Title: Electrokinetic Imprint targeting routine
Post by: ShadowRun on January 13, 2016, 01:49:13 am
When Electrokinetic Imprint is invoked on an invalid target, such as a tile that is occupied, the character does the casting animation; the Psi points get deducted; the Action Points get deducted; red error text tells you what you did wrong; and no Electrokinetic Imprint is produced.

It would be better if the targeting cursor toggled for tiles that are invalid. This is already the case when trying to invoke Bilocation (requires a human target) on a robot, or invoking Force Field (requires unoccupied location) on an occupied tile.

Even better would be if the balloon help for Electrokinetic Imprint used the same wording as Force Field:
Quote from: Force Field
on the designated unoccupied location
rather than its current wording:
Quote from: Electrokinetic Imprint
at the target location

Still the same. 1.0.3.20 version.

Doesn't the same thing happen with Quick Tinkering?

Pretty sure that Quick Tinkering will show a red warning outline around the square in question if it is occupied.

There's a strange technical reason why this is the case that I'd rather not get into and there's no easy way to fix it. Basically, some of the abilities that require an completely unoccupied tile will not take into account the presence of other characters.

Right but it still has the problem where it lets you try and fail which puts the ability and trap (earlier versions) on cooldown, and sometimes it actually succeeds if the square is red but the other characters are just barely inside of it, I'll take some pics next time it happens.
