General / What use is the "Recharge Object" function?
« on: November 06, 2017, 06:54:25 am »
One of the options for using batteries in your inventory is "Recharge Object". This is separate from the "Recharge Item" function which recharges energy weapons, energy shields and other such items. The description for the function specifies that it is used for "large energy storage objects". When I first noticed this, I thought somewhere in the game I would come across some large scenery object on a map that I would need to charge up. I have finished the game, and I have seen absolutely no use for this function. I even tried selecting the function and then combing through my inventory with the mouse cursor, but it did not show up as something I could do with anything there. So, what is this "Recharge Object" function all about?

Bugs / Container labels reset in Institute lab
« on: November 04, 2017, 10:24:44 pm »
In the Institute of Chort Physics Lab there are two computer racks. If I take everything that is in them, leave the screen and come back, the label for these computer racks no longer has the (empty) part, even though they remain empty. Also in the same screen there are two piles of robot remains. They contain nothing by default, and if I open them, they will become unusable, as emptied out enemy remains do. However, they are also restored as usable items upon leaving and entering the screen.

edit: I also noticed this happening in the nearby Chemistry Lab. There is a side room which has a group of three barrels. The label on the middle barrel resets.

Bugs / NPC cannot be pickpocketed
« on: October 27, 2017, 09:57:19 pm »
There is a specific NPC who cannot be pickpocketed, and attempting to do so leads to some odd behaviour on part of the player character. The PC will walk next to the NPC, pause in middle of the walk cycle for a second and then just stop. Alternatively, doing this when already standing next to the NPC will cause the PC to walk in place for a second and then stop. The NPC in question is in the Drop Zone, on the screen with the entrance to the Gauntlet. The specific NPC is highlighted in the attached screenshot.

Suggestions / Escaping the Institute when Faceless attack?
« on: October 23, 2017, 03:34:09 am »
I recently got to the point where strange tremors start happening in the Institute of Tchort. I went to the west wing and met the Faceless I had helped in Core City, who told me to leave the Institute or become a target. So I did the logical thing and ran like a coward. I left the Institute through the front doors, I left Upper Underrail by the elevator, and I eventually went all the way back to South Station. I was rather disappointed that nothing actually happened. I would suggest something like the Faceless attack progressing if you leave Upper Underrail while the tremors are happening. It doesn't sit well with me to give the player clear directions like this and then following them leads nowhere. This does raise the question of how the player is them supposed to know what to do next. Maybe you could go tell Tanner what has happened so far, and he would tell you to stop being an idiot and go back and explore the Institute further.

And alternative solution would be to prevent the player from escaping. Perhaps the gate guard tells you that not opening the gate during an earthquake is standard procedure, and the tremors have collapsed the tunnel that leads to RAF 013.

Bugs / Pickpocketing Luben leads to black screen
« on: October 21, 2017, 09:46:13 pm »
During the Coretech mission to recover the ICPD if I try pickpocketing Luben while sneaking and he notices me while the pickpocketing window is open, after going through the dialogue to get him to leave peacefully, the screen stays black after it fades out. The controls still seem to function, it's just that nothing is showing except for the mouse pointer and tooltips.

It might be a good idea to check whether this happens in other instances where dialogue is triggered automatically upon an NPC spotting the player character and followed instantly by a fade to black.

Bugs / Possible AI glitch?
« on: October 18, 2017, 10:43:33 pm »
I've had it happen a couple of times that when an NPC runs out of ammunition on their gun, they will still try to fire it several times even though it is empty. Is this some kind of glitch in the AI behaviour?

General / Arena nicknames
« on: October 18, 2017, 06:21:08 pm »
After reading on the wiki about the different nicknames you can earn at the Arena, I set my sights on the Crosshair/Angel of Death nickname. Thus, I brought my AFW rifle to the ring, put on my smart goggles and save scummed until I could bring down both Pulverizer and Bull's Eye in the first round with an aimed shot. But then... to my disappointment I just got Brutalizer/Brutalette. Sadness. That does fulfill the requirements since Pulverizer has 530 hp, but according to the wiki, the one-shot kill should override that. What am I doing wrong?

Bugs / Small graphical glitch with large gates
« on: October 17, 2017, 12:36:00 am »
I noticed that when walking through large hydraulic gates along the bottom edge, the layering doesn't quite work properly. See the attached picture.

Bugs / Hathor mine cutscene camera behaviour
« on: October 16, 2017, 07:16:53 pm »
If you set the bomb on the upper level of Hathor mine, click to use the trapdoor and the timing occurs so that your character reaches the trapdoor and moves to the lower level while the cutscene of water flowing down the hole plays, the camera will not return to where your character actually is, but to the upper level. If you use the trapdoor while the bomb is counting down, the camera will return to your character properly after the cutscene plays. Admittedly, this is a minor nuisance since you can still re-center the camera onto your character by double-clicking on your character portrait.

General / The lost train, persuasion and joining the Free Drones
« on: October 14, 2017, 12:08:17 am »
I'm trying to wrap my brain around the logic of what you need to do to join the Free Drones if you find the train but persuade them to leave because they are hurting people who have nothing to do with their battle. You need to go the Herve and tell him you couldn't find the train. Why? This course of action to me makes the player character seem like an asshole who comes across resources and then decides to deny everyone from obtaining them, just because. Also if you do this, the train will be gone just the same as if you left the Drones who captured it be and just told Herve you couldn't find the train. Did they suddenly decide that your reasoning isn't valid after thinking it over? Did some random group of scavengers come across the train precisely the in the time it took you to go to Rail Crossing and back? I am also not clear on the logic that would make the Free Drones decide you would be a valuable recruit if you first convince them that Rail Crossing should receive the shipment, but don't follow through on that. That makes the player character seem like he/she is just paying lip service to not hurting innocent bystanders but not following through with actions.

Bugs / Lost cargo not a plot item
« on: October 10, 2017, 12:17:49 am »
I noticed that the lost cargo you recover from Silent Isle is not listed under plot items in your inventory. Shouldn't it be classified as such?

Bugs / Pickpocket suspicion doesn't go down
« on: October 09, 2017, 01:14:05 am »
The suspicion bar in pickpocketing doesn't seem to ever go down on a handful of characters. I tried searching for earlier posts about this, and found this thread from two years ago:

http://underrail.com/forums/index.php?topic=1590.msg9121

It doesn't seem to work for global characters (those that move around in the world). I'll check it out when I get the time.

This seems to match what I am experiencing. Is this still an open issue?

Bugs / Punching bags bleed
« on: October 08, 2017, 03:00:02 pm »
I'm not sure whether this counts as a bug, but I find it odd that when you hit a punching bag, there's a small blood spatter on it.

Bugs / Garry before last arena fight
« on: October 05, 2017, 12:25:59 pm »
I went to talk to Garry immediately after fighting Stygian Exorcist in the arena without collecting my reward money first. His dialogue was the same as usual, but when I tried asking him about advice for the next fight, the conversation would immediately end. I went back to get my fight reward, and then tried Garry again, whereupon his last conversation triggered as it is supposed to.

Bugs / Phyllis and the chemistry of the universe
« on: October 04, 2017, 07:48:58 pm »
Since I see people bring up things here that seem factually incorrect, I thought I'd mention this here: Phyllis at the Oculus says that the chemical composition of human beings is mainly carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen. This is correct. However, she is incorrect when she claims these are "four out of five most common elements". On a galactic scale, nitrogen is only in seventh place when it comes to most abundant chemicals. Above it are iron and neon.
