Development Log / Re: Dev Log #3: Real-time 3D Models
« on: August 27, 2020, 05:36:54 am »
Glad to see you guys are trying to match the style of the sprites as closely as possible with the 3D models. There's a certain charm to the way the sprites move, even when idling.

Some of the old animations didn't have natural movement or actions, so we are going to try to retain as much of that Underrail "charm" as we can, but also add much more details and improvements.

I hope the game will retain the ability to turn combat speed up. One of the things I greatly appreciate about Underrail is that its combat animations can be very quick, leaving more time for the important stuff.

Since we are not limited by sprite size anymore, animations will have much higher number of frames per second but actions will be faster so it will be close to original and a way smoother.

Bugs / Re: Coretech suit visual bug

The character is female, but I'm pretty sure I got a male model when wearing the suit, seeing how it was bulkier and had a different pattern on the legs when compared to the suits the female employees wear.

There are also male NPC models that are using the same pattern as the female guard, as you can see around the base. Also, you can differentiate male and female visually by hips, chest, size etc. In this case, Coretech both male and female sprites for the player is using the same 3 lined pattern on pants.

Congratulations on the prestigious promotion to "Probably not a Spambot"!

Say, it is just me or are the new character models as seen in one of the Expedition announcement screenshots (and *cough* elsewhere) slightly thinner than the old models? Anyone else notice the same?

Hah, thanks! But as far as the skinny models, they are mostly all same sizes, except fatty ones :) This guy just blends into the environment, looks like he's camouflaging. :)

Hello Nicola, glad you are joned the team!

I'm a bit late.

*Better late than never*

Thanks, Fenix!

Darcek, killing the last boss is hard but not impossible. It depends on various things like your build, skills, feats and tactics, while you can also make it easier if you do http://www.underrail.com/wiki/index.php?title=Mutagen_Puzzle

Thanks alot guys for such a warm welcome!

It's a great experience being here and working along with this very talented team.

On the other side, I'm not allowed to say so much about upcoming things that we're woking on, however I hope that I will justify your expectations.

Let's wait for the surprise, shall we? :)

Hello guys,

My name is Nikola and I'm the new 3D Artist here at Stygian Software. I've been working for about 7 months now on some new character and creature models and animations, also on reworking some older ones.
I hope you'll like it and any questions and suggestions are welcome.
