Action and movement points don't update when switching gear in turn based mode

I have gear that gives me 50 AP and 80 MP. I enter turn based mode and then equip gear that should leave me with 35 AP and 14 MP. But i still have old 50 AP / 80 MP for that turn.

The vertical bar does shrink though.

Maybe it would be for the best that I disable equipment changing in turn-based combat completely (armor parts, that is).
