Cannot launch the game

Hey people i Bought the game yesterday on steam but i cannot play it, it launches in a small black window, i can move the mouse inside the window and hear some sounds and clicks but nothing happens and i cant see anything. Also tried in admin nothing happens.

I appreciate any help guys

Heya,

Can you check if you have "XNA redistributable 4.0 Refresh" installed?

Also make sure your graphics drivers are updated.

I have nvidia drivers as one version before , i am updating now. Also i installed XNA redistributable 4.0 Refresh before and there was no luck then.

Nope i uninstalled the game and reinstalled with XNA and no luck. Any ideas :)

Can you post your systems specs? Also, post a screen shot of control panel that shows XNA. It's not that I don't believe you, it's just that there are multiple packages and I want to make sure you have the right one installed. :)

Sure mate, My specs are:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 960 @ 3.20GHz, (RAM) 12.0 GB, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780

Try uninstalling 3.1 version above it and see if that helps.

Usual one 1920 * 1080, oh well i hope by release it will be fixed , it seems such a nice game

We'll have to figure out what's wrong first in order to fix it. :)

Usually this kind of problems are caused by corrupt .NET or XNA installations.

When you get the time, can you download this app: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb896647.aspx. If you run it before you start the game, it might capture the error.

My game opens similar to your screen shot but then it goes right to the title menu where I can start a game.

Ok, it's definitively a corrupt XNA installation.

This time try to uninstall all XNA redistributions you have and then install the XNA 4.0 Referesh redistributable again. Make sure you run the installaiton as an admin, just in case.

Finally fixed it woot :)

Ok i couldn't sleep and i was getting bored farming fates in FFXIV, so i checked the log, it seems the problem was that XnaNative.dll wasn't loading. I checked my folder to see if i had the file since search wasn't turning anything up and found it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\microsoft shared\XNA\Framework\v4.0.

I searched google for a little while for solutions and they said to copy the file to the folder of the game and maybe it would work. Well apparently i couldn't copy it because windows 7 permissions couldn't let me. Tried changing permissions and that didn't work, tried with sharing, same. Googling wasn't much help because one of the solutions was changing the registry and that is a pain.

So i downloaded a program unlocker and tried moving the file and it worked, after two hours trying :)

Tried the game from steam and that didn't work, so i tried from the folder and that finally did the trick. Played a little and it seems very good, cant wait for gold release. Keep up the good work mate and thx for the help

Glad you got it working. :) Keep in mind, though, that that might not have resolved the problem of faulty XNA installation completely and it might manifest itself with another DLL in the future.
