Title: How to turn on night vision goggles?

I can't for the life of me figure out how to turn these things on. Can someone enlighten me (forgive the pun).

Drag them to the action bar and use them from there.

Aha, I tried that, but I dragged the goggles from inventory; you need to equip them on the head, and then drag them down to the action bar.
