Title: Running option
Post by: navarl on August 26, 2012, 03:17:09 pm
OK, I've only played this maybe 4 hours so please correct me if I'm wrong.

I noticed that in combat my character can move really fast.  In non-combat mode where he/she is just exploring, i can't seem to find an option that would make them run instead of walk.  A "run" option would save a lot of time going back and forth between areas.

Your hero is so cool that he does not jump and run! But ... the option "run" is necessary.

Styg said that running would require more animations and it was suggested in the Codex forum that instead he could increase the walk speed by 40-50%.

I think just increasing the walk speed could be a good idea.  There's no reason for walk to be as slow as it is.  It's painful.  Possibly even allowing a slider bar in settings for walk speed?

Perhaps just have a "quickwalk" checkbox/hotkey on the main screen?  I don't think "run" needs to be a seperate animation or mechanism.

I'll probably just increase walking speed, but not by that much.

You don't really have a good feeling of how much of a speed up 40% is until you test it. It's ridiculously fast. :P
