I recently bought the game with the expansion and have been thouroughly enjoying it, but after putting 60h into the game I realized that during my conquest of the pirate base, bursting down pirates with my rifle, I killed the ferryman. Now about ~70h in (I have not realized that he was important to the story and continued playing) I have a dilemma - to either continue the game without the ferryman and completing the DLC, and I wonder if that is even possible, or to reload my save from 10 hours ago and go through purging the natives again...
Wondering if someone did this stupid mistake and managed to continue regardless, or is my current playthrough ruined.
Apart from that the game is pretty much perfect.

Reload a save imo. You need him to transport something for you in order to complete the main mission of the expansion.

You can also tow the item in question using a certain jetski.
