Title: Expensive, but Dominating-viable builds

I've looked carefully at a lot of different builds, including those shown by destroyer and Nerd Commando's videos, but I am not clear on something I was looking for.

I'm trying to find a build that would be dominating viable, yet expensive. Would those include:

1) SMG (but people say this is boring)
2) Assault rifle/sniper with heavy armor (more fun?)
3 Demolitionist with traps (more fun still?)

Instead of building up a ton of clutter and riches towards late game, I'd like to have more of an economic challenge but still tough enough to try dominating with.

I had trouble finding good layouts for builds 2 and 3 above. Anybody have a sample template for those builds or any other good build suggestions that eats up cash but still fun?  Thanks.

PS. I'd still like to have a loot challenge even with some modest Merc & pickpocket skills.
