Title: New player looking for a melee/grenade build

I just booted up the game and got annihilated on the character creation screen, I'm searching for a simple build so I can learn the game as I play. I went for this style because that was my go-to build on Fallout 1 and 2.

don't pick Armor Sloping if you want to make good use of armor penalty.
Armor Sloping is useless on this build because you have have low AGI and no Dodge/Evasion,
you're a tank in this build so better go all out on the defensive side.
you can reduce the CON and increase AGI if you want evasion instead and pick Armor Sloping.
i personally like DEX to do crits, but if you think it's too high, lower it by 2 or 3 and increase the CON even more,
or at least replace the "Increased DEX" with "Increased CON" instead.
and if you want to use the Sormir Skaerder Sword, replace unneeded feats with Vile Weaponry, Taste for Blood, and Eviscerate.

Max dex leather glove psimonk or knifer with max throwing, grenadier, and three pointer.

Since you're a new player probably playing on normal mode, you might want to try a build that capitalizes high dodge & evasion as means of defense. Even with a mere 14 dex, you can have 50% parry chance (which you can retaliate for free hits if you wield a sword).
Whatever slips by will be negated completely thanks to Uncanny Dodge - with it you can have a guaranteed 9 dodges with 8 Agility and maxed out Dodge skill. Also, Fancy footwork can boost your evasion rate to astronomical levels if combined with Evasive Manueuvers.
