Title: How does Chester and Water Treatment Plant REALLY work?

All,

Trying another playthru, with the current update (pretty good so far...), and I got the dead body of the girl found in Mushroom Cave, Spoke to Malcom, and made my way to Junkyard to find the drill part.

I found the WTP, the ring with JR, then found chester at the bar. He just says 'go away'.

Is there a specific way to trigger him 'correctly' for it to play out, or is it bugged?

It never prompts to do that - Am I missing something?

I do remember going through the quest normally till completion, recently.

I suspect...

Do you have the ring in your inventory when you spoke to Chester Royce? Obviously you need it with you to show it to him.

That's strange... In my case, I never encountered any problems with my current character, who asked for nothing when he returned the ring.

I'm not sure how else I can help. You may want to save a backup save of the playthrough where it happened, then ask the developers about this. Post it in the 'Bugs' section, the more details the better. Or consider direct messaging them.

Ah, right. One learns about Chester Royce from Pasquale after the identity of the dead scavenger is established. I missed that detail.
