Title: Changing Map Save Data

According to the wiki it's possible to delete data segments within the saves to remove tiles that I've already explored so I can reconstitute them in game. Does anyone know how to do this exactly?

I went into the savegame file and found the tile I'm trying to remove, but every time I attempt it, it just breaks the savegame file. I'm definitely doing something wrong.
