it is possible to focus purely on melee (daggers) stealth without hitting a wall where a rogue type charter cannot progress anymore?

It's actually pretty damn powerful, especially against humanoid enemies. There are skills that let you pretty much one-shot isolated targets, and even heavily armoured enemies can be crit-shiv'd to death with the right skill.

Everything that you can't sneak around or backstab tends to be vulnerable to cheap EMP grenades.

Melee alone could be tedious, imo. As Unlimited stated you can use throwing to get around robots and such and it also can be nice CC to be paired with opportunist's extra damage.
