Title: Returning player looking for a good build/advice
Post by: white_wolf87 on March 21, 2022, 05:07:27 pm
Hey all, there have been quite a few updates since I last played Underrail (over two years ago now), and I have a feeling that anything about my builds has changed. On top of that, the last time I played, I was trying to do this sort of well-rounded light infantryman build thing (specialised in guns and light armour with some stealth mixed in) and I realised about halfway through that this had some traction in some situations but I started to hit walls where it was like next to impossible to progress.

I've read that the game awards specialisiation and hates middling builds. Fine, no problem. However (a) is this still true? and (b) what could/should I build if I really wanted to focus on guns? I've never actually completed an Underrail playthrough all the way through.

You need to be more specific with what you want from a build. Which weapons you like. What armor. What about psi? Then you can just build around the things you like.
Where did you stop last time?

Would you like a versatility SMG build?

EDIT: Its a oldie but a goodie, I have some lying around though they have never been played, theyu are intended for DOMINATING.

The game is not that difficult when you get some key feats and ideas to help you out on the way and keep them in synergy with some logic.

Assault Rifles: Commando > Concentrated Fire > Full-Auto > Opportunist+Suppressive Fire (Rapid Reloader + Muzzle Break + Hornet 7.62 frame) - It does not even matter if your stat spread is not perfect. You can finish the game on dominating without too many problems with whatever feats you pick in addition to the above mentioned list. Seriously. Just bring bullets and mechanical repair kits for this one. A lot of them.

SMG "bullet hell":  Spec-Ops > Commando > Opportunist+Suppressive Fire and 14 dex at level 16 to hit 10 ap bursts with a crafted Jaguar SMG (Rapid Reloader + Muzzle Break + 5mm frame)

Snipers: Aimed Shot > Snipe > Shooting Spree > 'All of the crit chance and crit dmg mod feats'

Pistols: A lot of ideas to build - either versa and full dex, or dex/per variations, with Bullet Time > Any special abilities (Rapid Fire, Point Shot,...)
