Will the Eels and Scrappers like me (or at least not hate me) again in my current game after the update, or will I need to start again or something?

I'm having this issue too.  I went to the gambling house to see Elwood and ended up having to kill everyone.  Now all the Scrappers and Black Eels are hostile.  Have been defending myself as a result though so the black eels really don't like me which is making the Elwood mission rather difficult to complete...
