I'm not any kind of expert or anything, but I sort of doubt that it was Styg forgetting to update. GOG is infamous for taking an extremely long time make updates available once the devs have pushed it, sometimes months. Some games have gone almost a full year while GOG checks the update for hidden DRM.

Turns out Styg didn't have time to get the GOG version ready.
A lot of GOG's infamy is undeserved. They need some time to manually update their offline installers, but GOG Galaxy beta channel updates are more streamlined/automated with no quality control, not unlike Steam updates. These days big delays are usually up to the game developer.

Unless you have an older system, that runs Underrail flawlessly but bogs unto death from that bloated hog of an app known as Galaxy. I despise it.

Bugs / Re: Impossible to target enemies behind doors in shopping mall

That's what the highlight and reverse highlight buttons (Tab and Z default binds) are for. They highlight all interactive objects like enemies and doors, in opposite order. So if one targets the door, other will target the enemy.

There is no way to avoid targeting containers. That's a real issue if you're trying to move to a tile chock full of corpses in combat.

Yeah. I have played a number of turn based RPGs where a modifier key is present to hug the floor, so to speak. Not an uncommon feature. Anyway, thank you for the tip. I have played thousands of hours of Underrail and never used the Z key.

General / Advice on the Tchortist initiation mission (shopping mall fight)
« on: February 26, 2019, 07:50:56 am »
Since I have unfortunately come upon what I consider a near game-breaking bug in the upstairs portion of the fight to retrieve the figurine, I am looking for alternatives. The bug can be found in the bug forum, but essentially enemies behind certain doors cannot be targeted. So for a heavy armor wearing sledgehammer build, I'm not sure what to do with my #1 tactic of using doors to gain a tactical advantage.

This fight has always seemed to me disproportionately hard at this point in the game. There is nothing else even remotely as hard for me besides the final fight. I notice there is a random Jackhammer lying around on the lower level of the Mall, does this perhaps have some use I have yet to discover that makes the entire section easier, or is it just flavor?

edit: difficulty=Hard

Bugs / Re: Metal armor model breaks game

There are no difference in collision box between the different armors. This issue is probably tied to you getting stuck on the dreadnought itself upon exiting. Do you have a way or reproducing it?

I can reproduce it regularly on this particular playthrough. It seems to specifically affect the SE half of this particular map tile. Let me see if I can find a savegame to upload.

Edit: No savegame due to the attachment limit, but the way to reproduce is simply move the dreadnaught to any position East of the wall you break through to save the soldiers. Either inside the rescue room itself or small area just N of the rescue room. It does not, however, happen in the entrance to this map. My workaround was to use a jackhammer to break through the rocks for the rescue.

Bugs / Impossible to target enemies behind doors in shopping mall

In the Tchortist initiation question, I am playing a Sledgehammer + Heavy Armor build and I am finding this mission impossible to pass on Hard difficulty. I need to use doors and corners to survive, and in every single attempt, an enemy stands behind a recently-opened door such that his figure is 100% obscured by that door. He cannot be targetted, and believe me I've searched for that one pixel that a seasoned Underrail veteran can usually find...it ain't there. This has happened to me on every single attempt and it is infuriating.

This game desperately needs two new modifier keys: one key to "Hug" the ground during movement (forcing movement only, for example to avoid unintentially looting a corpse during combat), and another to enable targetting of an enemy when obscured by an object.

If anyone has a workaround for me to beat this mission please let me know. I'm new to heavy builds in general.

Bugs / Metal armor model breaks game
« on: February 15, 2019, 12:56:00 am »
I exited my Dreadnaught in the attached location. Cannot move and cannot re-enter 'naught. Have to do the whole burrower fight over again :(

I notice the metal armor gets caught on things and has a few minor movement issues infrequently. Must be the larger model. Maybe this has been fixed in the beta, not sure.

Edit: it seems the glitch is not limited to that particular tile. It is happening to me elsewhere in this map tile too, and not just in areas that are confined. Taking off the armor once the glitch has occurred does not help.

10 bucks says that it has something to do with temporal manipulation!

Makes sense...certain spots where you can see an event replayed.

General / Re: Movement key to hug the floor?
« on: February 08, 2019, 08:58:49 am »
To my knowledge no. The best option is to either move far enough away with the cursor or loot and stash the stuff so the corpses disappear either completely or at least are not target-able anymore.

In combat, this is a big problem. Loot costs Action Points, and I sometimes end up accidentally looting when I wanted to just move. If the tile you need to move to is piled with corpses you're screwed. I'm actually quite surprised this has never been fixed.

General / DC spawn rate radically increased?
« on: January 25, 2019, 01:13:31 pm »
So with the change to Faceless rep, they are hostile to me. I have slaughtered endless Gaunts, one after another, in the storage map adjacent to their HQ. However, I don't get to enjoy the success of a tough fight, because they just keep coming, endlessly. Now, it's plausible that there might be a lot of gaunts around, in stealth. But now a regular faceless and a centaur have shown up out of nowhere. Is the spawn rate extremely high in this scenario, or are they coming from an adjacent map (a new mechanic if so). If it's the former, it needs to be changed. It simply isn't fun...I don't play thinking person's combat games to play Horde mode.

Faceless are the Vulcans of Underrail. Inscrutable, emotionless and they never lie.

Do the faceless just spawn endlesslly and rapidly in DC? Just finished clearing the storages nearest their base, a whole slew of Gaunts, feeling satisfied, then here comes a new group of regular faceless. If true, I don't like it. Don't get the satisfaction of clearing a zone after a very tough fight, and at this rate I'll run out of good ammo really quickly.

General / Faceless faction rep changes
« on: January 23, 2019, 10:10:12 am »
This is my first playthrough in quite some time. The faceless become hostile in DC once I had dialog with the main NPC. I suspect that is because I killed some of them, but never unless they started out hostile and attacked me first. It used to be that as long as you didn't initiate combat you were OK. I was friendly to them in all the dialog prior, and I was allowed into the compound, but then things go south. Am I correct in assuming that you now must run or hide from hostile Faceless in areas such as Core City and the University to be friendly in DC?

General / Movement key to hug the floor?
« on: January 23, 2019, 09:51:19 am »
Is there a modifier hotkey to "hug" the floor, as some games have? I get frustrated in areas such as Faceless HQ fight, when there are so many corpses that any attempts to move result in a loot action instead.

General / Re: Directions to Hopper graveyard

go towards mushroom cove, then head south; it loops around but the graveyard is on the opposite "side" of the loop from mushroom cove.

From where? A map screenshot would be awesome, thx.

Edit: found it. Someone had alluded to a high quality skin or suit there, but didn't find that.

General / Directions to Hopper graveyard
« on: January 19, 2019, 12:33:33 am »
I like to explore every tile when I play, but I haven't played in a while and this is my first playthrough with the new map tiles in prep for the expansion. I can't seem to find the Cave Hopper graveyard. IIRC it's near the Rathound King. But I've explored all the tiles between Hathor and him, both the E and W paths, and I cannot find any transitions N or S that would take me there. It's prolly just my bad memory, so help me out, thanks.
