It's not a technical issue. I only hear game music, but nothing else.

Uninstalling and reinstalling from GOG brought the sound fx back. Back up your saves.

Sound fx like opening doors and npcs interacting with stuff, like the SGS guys clearing the tunnel, just stopped altogether. That's including all the button sounds on the ui, like "battle." I'm not turning down any audio options and haven't even gone to the menu to do so before this occured. I still hear music.

Getting banned from all social media and official forums of Caves of Qud is a prerequisite to completing the game. 
Story mode is actually unfinished, but it has its charms in exploration and some kind of roleplay dealing in environmental sustainability and transhumanism/transcendentalism.
Ah, and f10 is going to be your best companion after the first few initial runs. Instant 25,000xp for building the character you wanted, and then it's always a matter of contesting the unfinished questlines and rediscovering the rare equipment, also called artefacts.

General / Camera rotation?

The most difficult thing I'm encountering at the start is being unable to detect enemies behind walls. Is there an npc highlighting option besides turning on combat mode, or perhaps rotating the camera?
Considering the possibility of no camera rotation, what does the compass matter? North will always be in the top right corner, so will it remove some debuffs from my character if he activates it?
