Builds / Assault Rifle / Crafter Build?
« on: July 21, 2021, 09:33:48 pm »
I'm brand new to the game and thought of starting out with something simple. I'd really like to indulge in the crafting system in this game, but I imagine it's not too important early on?

I've been reading about psi, but it seems like something I might get bored with. Assault rifles, tinkering, traps ... all that seems pretty fun. Do you have any recommendations?

I think I will go with the Oddity style. Seems like an interesting take on CRPG character XP. I definitely want to take my time with this game. Going the Oddity route seems beneficial to crafting, since you'll be digging around in things. Heard the crafting in this game is very good / helpful for character development.

So do you think your build options are limited, then, if you play the Oddity style? Sounds like you need to play a stealth-like build? Could you do psi focused and still do Oddity? I'm always open to different playstyles.

I just purchased the game last night, as I have really enjoyed CRPG's over the last few years - Baldur's Gate, Fallout 1 and 2, Pillars of Eternity, Planescape: Torment, etc. etc... The stories and gameplay were great. I heard this was challenging, enjoy the aesthetic, and also enjoy its setting (from videos / reading). Challenge and building aside, what do you veterans recommend in terms of gaining XP for a beginner from what you've read so far?

Is going the Oddity or Classic route best? I'm very curious / excited about this!
