Builds / Brains and brawn
« on: October 06, 2024, 07:50:44 pm »
There's a sledgehammer and crafting build I tried some time ago, but was only able to play for a bit after finishing Depot A before real life intervened and I suddenly had no time for Underrail. As I'm thinking of going back to it at some point, I'm wondering whether it's going to be viable in the later game.

The main stats are strength (for obvious reasons, but also because the extra carry capacity is nice), intelligence (because of all the skill point bonuses) and constitution. By level 10 I had acquired, through the higher merchant tiers unlocked by mercantile, some really good quality components and thanks to the high crafting skills, I've managed to use them for really nice armour and weapons. I'm playing on hard and so far I've felt almost invincible. My worry is that the benefits from crafting will level off as I quickly reach the upper limits of the quality of components, so by the late game the build will become comparatively weaker. Is that worry justified?

Bugs / How to make an item disappear

Normally you can swap items between the crafting window and the inventory, including items that are equipped. For example, you've opened a Recycle Item blueprint and dragged a sledgehammer from your inventory into it (i.e. you can see the metal scraps that would result from recycling the hammer, but you haven't  proceeded with recycling it yet). Now if you have a knife that's equipped, you can drag that knife to replace the sledgehammer in the crafting window, and the sledgehammer will then replace the knife in your equipped slot.

That's the expected behaviour so far. The unexpected occurs if you happen to be wearing a suit of riot armor with a shield. This prevents you from equipping two-handed weapons, so the sledgehammer from the example couldn't get equipped. It doesn't go back to your inventory either, it just disappears into thin air. As far as I can see, this can only happen with the two blueprints of Recycle Item and Disassemble.
