Builds / Re: Build Advice, TC + Guns

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into TM as well.

Slightly off topic, but I was also looking into using snipers at one point but was told it's tough at the beginning due to low availability of the weapon type. Is there a way to rush to one early or is it just better to pick something else on first playthrough?

you should be able to buy one or craft one around after a few hours, and you can use other guns until you get a decent snipe

Only the Phreak phones, which is slightly annoying but not hard (and for which a guide would have been useless anyway).

I never solved the others  :D

it's hard to perform well in the game the first time because you have to learn all the mechanics, skills and feats...

Basic advice is to chose one or two main weapon or offensive skill and build your character around that, looking at all the feats and stats required for them.

Sorry for your wife and kids.

I couldn't help but laugh a bit since you picked salesman instead of a "fighting" skill at lvl 18 :)

Since you picked grenadier and are probably full of cash, maybe try to pump up "electronic" and buy the plasma grenades blueprint, they'll give you a nice AOE burst. Electronic is also good for crafting a nice energy shield.

Cheers

It sure is a nerf.

Have you played a lot in the last version with guns ? Does it make things much harder ?

But you're right throwing is a great support skill for any build, no question on that :)

I'm not trolling, i've played with and without grenades, i see the pros and cons of grenades, i told you some of the cons, that makes you chuckle, well good for you

You really could have made the same post arguing that psi is op, or that guns are op, or that melee is op, and the discussion would have ended the same way with you telling me that psi/guns/melee can kill everything easily and that it's flawed design, and that i'm unable to refute this...

By the way there are ennemies completely immune to physical attacks in the game, though i didn't want to bring this argument because i don't consider that the game better or "not flawed" because of this

What kind of response do you expect ?

You're only lvl 16 on normal classic and you obviously know very little about the game,

If you don't like it that's fine, personnal preferences is a thing.

But you're not likely to convince any of us who have played this for hundred of hours about this "contradictory design"...

Grenades have cooldown, they can miss, they use a dedicated slot...

Stealth won't get you past all encounters, and won't help you once a fight is started except with some feats.

And you're wrong to assume this " "No skill/skill line is supposed to be able to tackle every content and enemy" design philosophy ".

Every thing in the game do have pros and cons, yes. But it doesn't mean one skill should automatically win X% of fights while being useless against Y% of other encounters, that would be boring pokemon design "use fire against ice monster".

We don't want that.

I see no contradiction here.

Underrail offers a large diversity of playstyles against a large diversity of threats, and it does it very well.

If you wanna play with stealth and grenades you can do it, and even beat the game only with that.

If you don't you can also do it, there are other ways, it's up to you :)

One thing to know is that detection scales with your level, so you can reach decent detection even with 3 per later on.

And most fights agains't crawlers are entirely optional, simply by not going in caves you avoid most of them.

Against stalkers you can craft good armors that work well especially against knife attacks.

The worst are lunatics psychopaths, but you can avoid them till late game when you have enough detection with googles.

If your detection is low, best is to use préemptive traps, choke points and area of effects attacks to discover them.

"Shame there's no "immersive" alternative :\ " , well there is, just don't play a 3 con 3 per glass canon build.

Suggestions / A rework of smoke bombs ?
« on: January 11, 2022, 12:58:09 pm »
Hi guys,

I recently played the excellent Jupiter Hell game and it has an interesting way of using smoke grenades : it creates a field in which you can move freely but it breaks line of sight for a duration, unless you're really close to the target.

I thought it could work well for underrail too (and i don't really like the current smoke bomb mechanic which doesn't feell realistic to me).

Have a nice day

But wait, exothermic aura burns nets ?
