Builds / Looking for pointer on my plasma crit build.

I'm a complete noob at this game. After achieving some success with a psion build, I want to try my hand at a scientist build. Here is what I have so far.

The idea is that my primary damage would come from a plasma pistol with steadfast aim, high-technicalities, and crit goggles for some spicy, spicy crits (the current iteration already one shot almost everything with aimed shot, but dumped strength so no steadfast aim). 5 Stregth means I can also wear riot armor which should help a little bit with staying alive. For later I was thinking of grabbing opportunist and execute along with an electroshock pistol.

I'm not sure what happened, but I made a pretty big blunder at the Mysterious Pillar. I didn't realize it was a stat check and not just an activation, so I got swamped by ghosts.

After running back out, another ghost spawned on top of me and pinned me into the corner while 2 beetles pounded me from afar.  There was no way I could have live through until the ghost despawn, so I went to load my save. Except for some reason both of my autosaves put me back in the same situation.

Is there anyway to fix/reroll back to an older autosave file? I haven't manually saved in awhile because this is my most successful build yet and I forgot. As it stand there's no way for me to progress.
