Another interesting question about expedition.
If you snitch on the pirate spy are the pirates Meant to be hostile ???. As I just did that in my latest play through and it confused the fuck out of me because I assumed that afterwards you would still be able to negotiate.

« on: October 02, 2019, 04:23:59 pm »
Lore wise they are corporations, their agenda for humanity is to make money. Praertorian does it via hiring security (and possibly from taxation), Core tech does it via manufacturing shit and the JKK does it by feeding the masses gladiatorial slaughter.....all with quests nearly identical to one another. So enjoy being another cog in the corporate machine for a while in a video game.

After playing all of them the oligarchs are also hard to nail down politically as well beyond being self serving but I may be biased.

General / Re: Underrail Setting is about hell?
« on: October 01, 2019, 02:48:50 pm »
Every heaven could be a hell in another mans eyes.......EMBRACE SLANEESH MORTAL

That's nonsense.

The very concept of heaven, excluding it just being some place like this but just somewhere else, makes it being hell impossible.

By the same token, hell as a concept can be no person's heaven.

Hell is so intolerable, so horrible, so terrifying and impossible to bear that no being in existence could thrive or have any sort of life there.  Even some 40k silliness would burn in a kind of abject misery that even the most suicidal and self-hating of entities couldn't even enjoy.  It's the complete veto of an entity's existence.

I was taking the piss mate.

Edit: DON'T YOU CALL MY SCIFI FASCIST FANTASY SETTING SILLY, there is nothing silly about orks and their dakka.

one item that keeps bugging me is the Broken-Off Spike. why is it tagged as a Key? has Styg or anyone confirmed that its not actually a key for anything (other than Quinton dialogue options)?

Talk to azif ;), you'll like what you get.

yeah i dont remember azif having dialogue options about the monolith, except that Oculus knows it exists. also i mean the Broken-Off Spike from the pirate, not the Shard

Psi Beetle Brain in a Jar is another one of those weird Expedition items. its on the wiki but i dont think anyones found it

Was thinking of the shard sorry, do remember using it somewhere though like with Yngwar.....May just misremembering it.

General / Hinted features/lore (spoilers)
« on: September 25, 2019, 01:31:11 pm »
I noticed on my third play through a couple of things that are hinted as either unfinished features (probably not finished due to time constraints) or minor lore hints that you just don't find out on a first play through so just wanted to see if anyone is able to share some other minor details.

Hinted Features:

-Quads seem to have been hinted at being sold in rail crossing and at the cores shut down merchant, probably precursor to the jet skis implementation.

-Cave hopper/shrimp meat seems next to useless beyond one or two quests, combined with the amount of fish in game seems to imply a cooking system was planned (probably suspended as to de-clutter crafting).

-Loads of non hostile NPC's around the temple of tschort with minimal dialogue and no quest affiliated with them.....Either implies a quest was meant to be affiliated or just there for world building.

-Pets seem to have been planned at one point (I think) based upon the amount of animal handler chars in the free drones and other factions, dude mentioning tameable rathounds, Faceless's bionic/armored rathounds. Combined with the interaction with k-9 in junkyard makes me feel like there was some plans for animal companions but probably got dumped due to game play limitations (which is a shame because I want a doggo :3).

Lore:
-You can actually get dialogue from Abram explaining how his throat got fucked by some biocorp mutagen or chemical weapon in depot A junkyard, didn't pay much attention to his wheezing prior so just interesting to note lore wise.

-A random disk in the junkyard seems to be made of the same material as the oculus but unable to get any chars to acknowledge what the fuck it is.

-Maura can be found in the free drones base after the jailbreak implying that the free drones have some interesting oculus connections (HAIL TO MONOLITH !!!!)

If anyone has anything else to add feel free to share :)

You can join the pirates.

Yea but have the feeling this induces more killing unfortunately.

You can learn a lot about that part of the world from Kokoshka in the free drones base. I was under the impression that they were actually located at the surface though. I think, in that part of the world, they were actually starting to rebuild on the surface. It was very interesting because it offered the tantalizing possibility of seeing what actually happened on the surface, as it was never really explained why they had to to underground.
Yeah I got the dialogue from Kokoschka but most of his dialogue isn't focused on discussing the Fatherland itself (he talks about a leader/dictator though)

Also that surface settlement idea would be interesting and makes his migration from Europe more plausible but where did you hear it from as there aren't really windows in the base and despite being able to interact with a terminal in the gray base it's mostly slavik word salad according to Google translate.

Would love to know if anyone can figure it out as this group is basically the closest I'm gonna get to Eireann as a subterranean dweller of the underrail

Oh, OK. So they are aligned to the Free Drones? Or just an incidental acquaintance?

The latter.

Some kind of reference to Serbian or Balkan peoples and armies, along with the Koko guy.

I wouldn't say the Motherland's Fatherland's Red Army Gray Army refers to Balkans, komvarisch.

As a thought experiment if they were to be some Eastern European/Russian subterranean migrants how long do you think it would take to dig a tunnel long enough to reach the current rail Which I assume is somewhere in the US as that part of europes at least 8000 km to the east (I know he says its to the west but FTS)

The better question would be are they good or bad?, not that it really matter tho since i killed them all, even the lunch lady

Is the Protectorate bad for wanting order and unity in the rail ? Are the Free drones Evil for wanting their sovereignty and hating the evolution of a old oppressor/War criminal ?

Political entities are rarely that morally binary and we know too little of the Army's military history, societal structure or corruption from one chap and a military base to know whether they deserve to be shot or not.....What I can say is feel free to shoot the trigger happy grey fecker's in self defense as to quote the wise and crazy smiling jack "Self preservation is a vital part of humanity after all. My favorite part, in fact".

Honestly to say, that option FD helping RC isn't very realistic relatively to rel life, as any resistance movement \partisans only cares about their movement's survivability, not about peasants around, and demand from them under threat of torture and death.

But... in game perspective it doesn't matter possibly.

Not at all true the FARC,IRA,EOKA and Modern ELN along other movements base their tactics upon the support and aid in which these communities provide, especially in small and rural communities but not limited to such

As a example the IRA (A movement which excelled at urban guerilla warfare and winning the propaganda war) during our War for Independence lived and died from the support they possessed from rural communities which aided their asymmetrical warfare by hiding arms, feeding fighters, masking members and spreading the misdeads of the Brits being the Brits (spreading propaganda) like rail crossing back when my country was a shithole. A tradition which unfortunately was upheld by many communities during the Provo IRAs campaign despite their immoral actions.

Other movements sometimes even provide aid to these areas to garner the support of groups disenfranchised by the governing power (eg. ELN atm provides cash/medicine for communities and aids in construction efforts in exchange for hiding spots from the Columbian government and potential fighters https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V34r_lTZNjg .)

That isn't to say Insurgent movements which commit such actions don't exist but their tactics tends to have much less local support and usually ends up controlling its occupied territory through tyranny, but that tends to get you hated by everyone like ISIL or the United National Liberation Front in india. However Free drones don't strike me as the type to do this considering that they have cells trading in the junkyard which weren't discovered by the protectorate (so probably a few locals with loyalty to the anarchy) and quite a lot of sympathizers across the southern rail that would label the institute of Tschort as terrorist before them.

P.S: Sorry for necroing the topic but felt like going full Bio warfare pirate anarchist for expedition but the rail crossing actions made me feel like a heartless bastard that doesn't care at all for the settlements I claim to be protecting from the war crimes squad.....Which ironically does care slightly for it's expansion of territory, power and influence ......oh well but on a side note hope to see some more fasci....I mean protectorate and free drones love soon after expeditions final polish is done :)

Would recommend the Spec ops goggles located within a certain military base in expedition when you can get them, but cool build man.

Leave it on a cupboard and forget about it like 90% of legendary unrecreatable artifacts in TES series, its what I did because I couldn't decide xD.

Now I have the urge to nick the cube from six just in attempt to recreate that scene from the end of raiders of the lost ark only this time with WMDs and random rare trinkets in the underrail, just like one of those assholes in the brotherhood of steel.

Double edit: After force refreshing two dozen times it showed up on blaine for some reason meaning it definitely is randomised drop so no point in changing it :P
