and the ease of applying status affects on heavily armored targets.

Which one?

General / Re: Level cap and carry capacity

I think this topic should be revisited -- I do think a level cap in general is a bad idea because it completely stops the idea of character development, but so is unrestricted character power.

I think a diminishing returns system would be ideal for this. As an example:

After level 20, you should stop gaining hit points and psi points per level, making it so that only getting your +1 stat point every 4 levels can increase your health and psi pools. Or, it could be reduced to a flat 2 hp/1 psi boost per level after 20.
After level 24, you should only gain stat points every 8 levels and new feats every 4.
After level 30, your skill point gain should be reduced to 10 each level.

This would prevent characters from being too powerful too soon, but at the same time, if one were so inclined, one could eventually build a character that is a master of everything after multiple playthroughs. If you play the same character for 700 hours, that character kind of deserves to be an OP superman of some sort, and by then you probably have already beaten the game, so why not?

The "import/export character" function also serves as a way to prevent players from being stuck at the game due to "improper" builds, and those characters will reach a hard cap sooner into the game, which would only compound the problems they have near the end of the game. Uncapped but diminished level improvements would still make these characters viable to play the game through, if unoptimal.

You should play Elona+. And - this isn't Elona.

But with Leather Fists, how do I get past all of the heavy mechanical resistances? Even with Expose Weakness I can only get so far, and robots can't be incapacitated or stunned without an EMP grenade.

Doctor is a waste for battle build.
All it do its just saves your sharons (and quest opportunities), but you are swimming in sharons.
Also, Heavy Punch isn't that good. Just like Reinforced Tungsten Fists is BS (take leather fists).
All you need is to MAX your DEX, take Cheap Shots instead of Doctor to incapasitate all patetic wrongdoers, take Fancy Footwork. That's all you need (and Stealth of course - to steal and kill).

Glorious days of BG seems to return.

Thanks! Look like decent game, with strong - how it said - old school spirit.

If there is some choice (and it is) - there is no chore.
You can reassemble excess stuff in repair kits, and if movingtarget's proposal will be implemented (in any form) it would be additional choice.

Thanks!
Quite satisfied.
So a total forcemeat headband with all components with 124 is required 172 electronic?
Well, a bit painful, but if I'll take a little less then max quality, all be OK.

ps Sometime I need one-time fish, because so many fishing skill around (Elona+ DSCC), that I forced to filter these. :)

Too many choices isn't good.
The game look in that case like a shapeless piece of protoplasm - there is no strong sense of integral concept, it is not clear where the mitochondria, and where the nucleus.
Add this, add that, add no limit, add infinit HP in the end (and thats besides testing and balancing).
The problem is you don't need choice (just like I see it) - you need to sell stuff at full price.

942
Wouldn't solve the problem as it would incentivise you to wait till reset to sell.
In that case it would be only your choice to wait, so do not complain.
You can sell all, or you can wait to get "fair price". For me it's "fair deal".

...
Thanks, but I don't get the actual picture.
Can you supply it with some examples like Mindless did?
I.e. for Metal Armor with full parts of highest quality, same for Energo Pistol (or Plasma), and Psionic Headband?
Or another items if you wish.

And how much skill may require crafting of of some item?
I mean with all additional components.

YEAAAAAAH! translate - I like all of them.

The only thing I didn't uunderstand - "Existing items in running games will not be dis-assemblable".

What's with the tabi boots tweak. Does it mean your chance to get critically hit gets increased?
Don't know how it work, but I think you should get same penalty like if you step on caltrops.
It's more interesting (and logical) then just a "get a higher crit chance".

This to a degree is true, but i suppose it's more fair to say that a psi character will most of the times either die or come without a scratch, there is very little room for anything in between because of low health vs high damage and multiple opponents, no damage mitigation and no damage avoidance.
I can not argue with that.
However, I would expect battles start to be more challenging, instead of "things will be very grim to play a psi build", because before it was "bitches, I've come to kill you all".
Just my optimistic expectations.
Of course, this may require some balancing.
But for me it implies the following question "Where is the map, Billy, we need map!" (c) Treasure Island http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqVvAvhqEnQ
