Lake mushrooms do respawn ridiculously fast, I'll agree on that. You probably could increase their respawn timer tenfold so people won't be tempted to just run around Mushroom Cove gathering shrooms.

But what will the hoppers eat then... :(

You can use the Emergecy Hatch key to move down to the third level. The hatch is in the bottom corner of the map.

Maybe. I haven't had a chance to look at that part of Steam API yet. Shouldn't be too hard I think.

Suggestions / Re: Thoughts on Melee
« on: September 27, 2013, 01:46:57 pm »
Heya,

Thanks for the well thought out post. :)

I'm aware that knives are the only melee weapons without module slot, and I'm planning to add some in the next update. Also, I'm probably going to add some stuff that synergizes well with bleeding attacks (either though feats or poisons or some such) to make those more appealing (outside Cut Throat which, as you said, is powerful as it is).

I like your feat suggestions, so I might use some of those or parts of them. Except for the "Batter Up" feat - I really don't think sledgehammers need a nuke attack since they already deal loads of upfront damage and can bypass mechanical thresholds.

Heya,

A) The game world will open up more in the future updates.

B) I thought about giving detection bonus when standing still, but I decided against it. It would require from player to go and stand near every corner for a while just in case it has a secret. It's comparable to pixel hunting, imo, and not particularly fun.

C) Did you really buy a rifle from the mushrooms you picked up? That must have taken forever. :) I'm guessing most of the money came from Lake mushrooms as those respawn quickly. I might make them worthless in the future.

D) I agree, will change that.

Hi there, first off the game itself looks very interesting, and I plan to pick it up tomorrow (stupid autodeposit going in at midnight rather than the day before). I wanted to know if this game worked across systems such as Vista, and if it would need to be run in compatibility mode, ect.?

Also, this game seems to be a mix of fallout and metro, is that a fair assumption?

It will work fine on Vista, no compatibility mode required (if you run the demo, run it as admin though).

It's influenced by old Fallouts among other game, but I've never played Metro.

Not in this game, no.

Heya,

I have to agree with what Epeli said. The lot, if not all, of things you disagree with are very deliberate design decisions.

One of the major aspects of this game is managing resources, and that includes ammo, psi, health, meds, even your cooldowns and skill allocations. You are expected to be scrappy and make due with what's available at the start, and as the game progresses your skills of choice will scale up and provide you with enough damage and utility (this includes psionics, you will get to the point where you can just fling those around and not bother with weapons at all).

Also money becomes steadily more available as you move out of the early game.

I hope you keep playing the game and find it more enjoyable as you level up a bit more.

General / Re: Rules and Permissions for LP'ers
« on: September 26, 2013, 02:45:53 pm »
I am wondering what the rules and permissions are from Stygian software about LP'ing the game on Youtube.  I just found the game and immediately fell in love with it.  I would love to upload videos and share my content (I am a beginner youtuber) but I would like to make sure I have permission before I do anything.

I am currently not a Youtube partner or part of a network and thus have no ability to monetize my videos (if that's relevant to the question).

There are no restriction. There's also a sub-forum here where you can link to your videos for others to check out.

Have fun with it. ;)

Suggestions / Re: Melee Weapons, and Dexterity Bonuses
« on: September 26, 2013, 12:29:21 pm »
What's expensive about adding new weapons is their graphical representation on the character. The reason why is because it uses prerendered graphics where it has a spritesheet for each armor-weapon-animation combo. Retrofitting new weapons with old models will take hours off the 3D modeller's time (time I need for other things) and will inflate the size of graphical assets a lot (character model graphics are like 90%+ of the game's size).

Could be Steam installer hiccup. Did you try fully reinstalling the game?

I know it's an old post but, I'm a Steam user, I've jsut purchased the game and did the same thing as ADH_DJ did. To solve the problem i went to the folder you suggested him but I can't find the file you mentioned... Is there a way to solve this problem for Steam users? Thanks ^_^

It's in the same place for the Steam version as well. What system are you running?

Could you post the full path at which you looked for the file?

On Win7, it should be something like: c:\users\YourName\My Documents\My Games\Underrail

This should work. Also, you can try the new version of the demo that's available from Desura (www.desura.com/games/underrail). It shouldn't have this problem.
