I nerfed the early rathound encounters a couple of times (reduced their numbers, their stats and so on).

I'm happy with the difficulty it's at right now. What I'll probably do with the next patch, however, is give player some more meds and ammo at the start of the game to better deal with early game enemies, as I'm aware that managing resources early game can be a bit tricky at times.

There's probably going to be multiple difficulty levels implemented at some point. I'll consider disabling item degradation for the easiest one.

You can't beat everything in the game with knives and I think that's not unreasonable. Since you've gone with high dexterity why not invest in grenades.

Also, you've got 8 strength so you can always switch to sledgehammer to deal with the heavy armored targets.

The way I like to play the stealth build the most is to open with cut throat to immediately remove one enemy from the fight and then switch to SMG for point blank burst.

This sort of thing is something I can take or leave in a game. I feel that it works better when the actual maps are bigger and encapsulate the entire area, which isn't the case in Underrail, since many locales there consist of more than one map.

So I don't think I'll implement this, but I might change my mind once I get the local map overview back into the game. We'll see.

Heya and thanks for the feedback.

The weapon degradation is a bit out of control right now and I'm planning to change that with the next patch. That said, I don't have any plans to add a more complex system when it comes to maintaining weapons and other items.

While your suggestions aren't unreasonable, you must understand that when designing any game mechanics, making it as close as possible to reality isn't my primary concern.

Much like ammo, I want the psi points, energy (when it comes to hacking) and lockpicks to be resources you must manage. And that's the reason they are implemented the way they are.

@Bubu91: I'm aiming to finish it by the end of the year, but don't hold me to that.

I have a lot more content planned. I don't like to talk numbers because I always plan more than I can complete and then reduce the scope to something (semi-) realistic. But to give you some idea, there will be about 2 more urban locations in the Lower Underrail (where SGS is), about 2-3 urban locations in the Upper Underrail and also a couple of locations in the Deep Caverns; and of course bunch of in between areas, some dungeons, mini-dungeons and other stuff that comes with it.

I want to put a bit more of the game in terms of different character and monster models before I tackled that one.

I haven't settled on a style yet. I have some idea of what they should look like, but I'll have to browse the internet and see what's available.

Btw, if anyone has an artist they'd like to recommend, feel free to throw me a link and I'll take a look.

Just tested the game on my old laptop.

Toshiba A110-233
512mb memory
Intel GM956 integrated graphics - max memory 128mb
Windows XP SP3

Movement around the areas I've explored is quite smooth, except in the Cantina where movement becomes nigh impossible :- very stuttery/takes ages to select npc and talk.

Fighting is  stuttery, not as bad as Cantina area though.

Still have a lot of areas to explore and will report any unpleasant effects.

Going to add another 2gb of memory next week and check the results.  I'm hoping that the extra memory will expand the graphics memory but it's probably fixed in Bios settings that Toshiba set :(

Thanks for posting this. Stuttering is probably caused by the old (single-core) processor. The game is not really GPU heavy, though I am surprised it works at all with so little system and graphic memory.

Could you check if the setup installed "Microsoft XNA Framework Redistributable 4.0 Refresh"? It should be among your installed programs.

Nothing graphics-wise is placeholder in the game. However, some icons, such as the stealth one, were drawn a long time ago and I've gotten a bit better since so they might be redone.

No promises though.
