Development Log / Dev Log #72: Steam Deck Preparations

Hi guys,

Today we're pushing the 1.1.5.6 version to the main branch. If you missed the original release on experimental, you can check out the previous dev log, as well as subsequent patch notes, to see what's it all about.

Next week we're going to release an update that will be focused around making the game functional on Steam Deck and Proton in general. The game might still not be as comfortable to play on Steam Deck as we are not going to implement a specialized UI or gamepad controls right now. That's a bigger undertaking that will have to wait until I've cleared some of my Infusion development schedule.



But, while it might not be the best hand-held experience, the game should still be completely functional on Steam Deck. I've fixed the outstanding issues with Proton in regards to the slowdown (which should now make the game fully playable on Linux) and have implemented an on-screen keyboard to be used in few places where textual input is required.

Another big change that will be coming with the next update is support for Steam Cloud, which should be able to function with the game now as it's quite a bit more generous in regards of storage space than back when we originally considered it. That said, if you're like me and make a lot of separate save files, you might want to trim your Save folder if you intend to use this feature.

  • Camera will now immediately stop moving when exiting follow mode

  • You can now use serrated TiChrome blades when crafting serrated bolts
  • [Expedition] Steel and tungsten plates requirement is now capped at 30 mechanics when crafting shells as well

  • Items that are currently being invoked (used) should now properly be marked in the inventory

  • Fixed being able to finish Captain Mareth's final quest before he returns to Fort Apogee
  • Fixed an unfortunate random encounter trigger placement that can potentially block access to an important place in Upper Underrail
  • Minor dialog fixes

Unfortunately, some of the original high res files for the portraits were lost during the development so we cannot create _h variants for them. Luckily, it's only a few.

Your spear guard has effectively expired by then anyway, as it will tick away before the enemies gets their turn.

The other two options would be to either reset the boosted guard, which is kind of an abuse then, or to prevent you from applying a new one, which would leave you vulnerable on the next turn.

This was the amount of damage that was decreased through the target's damage reduction.

Should be properly distributed in the next version, instead of piling up on the first value.

That's intended, that's why it's called "base". It meant to give you indication of how combining different psi schools affects the psi cost.

I believe the problem you may be having is there are several small instances of damage with cryo orb so it doesn’t kill your target early enough to explode. Instead it puts out the TD. Cryokin is one large source of damage (I know it’s split but in the logs it counts as one) so perhaps it kills the target before it can extinguish it. I haven’t tested it myself but it’s a pretty easy thing to test. Try doing orb on an enemy with like 1 health with TD. Or try using at least  2 cryokin spells on a TD target to see if it extinguished it

Probably the case. I think as soon as chilled is applied, the TD is dispelled, so unless you kill it with the first shard, you cannot trigger it.
