Bugs / Indirect Kills - Exp
« on: May 16, 2013, 04:39:17 am »
I mentioned it in a different thread, that in the demo explosive barrels didn't grant exp.

That got fixed and now I'm wondering if we can do the same for a hacked auto-turret (for example). I just successfully hacked a turret and it gunned down several enemies, but I didn't get any experience from this.

I understand why it might not get me experience, but at the same time if we DON'T get experience from it then the game is telling us that it's a bad way to do things, despite the fact that it's actually a very smart way to deal with them.

I think we should get experience from kills from the auto-turret in question. (Though it should still be hostile if left on)

Suggestions / Re: Burst Trajectory

There is a trajectory. However, there's no guarantee that you will hit all, or any, targets on the trajectory.

This probably answers my question, I was under the impression that I just misunderstood where the trajectory was, but if I just missed then w/e.

Bugs / Dialogue Attack Option
« on: May 16, 2013, 04:17:46 am »
So I was going through the SGS base (or whatever the acronym is, I don't even know what it stands for) and I went through a trap door into a dialogue segment with 2 bandits (or looters, or whatever) holding a man hostage.

I realized I likely wouldn't be able to talk them out of it, so I decided it would be smartest to take the initiative so I clicked attack.

They got initiative.

Let me get this straight, I chose to suddenly attack them at a time of my own volition and THEY get to attack first?

This is a bug.

Ok, thanks for the response.

Suggestions / Re: Omni-Tool

I always just used the Omni-Tool to open vents, for super secret stealth travel.

I simply think of it as a screw-driver.

? Cool...?

Suggestions / Omni-Tool
« on: May 15, 2013, 07:50:34 am »
Okay, I used the Omni-Tool in the demo and it was totally swell... so either the demo had no requirements for using it or I wasn't even aware I fulfilled any requirements.

I didn't get the impression at all that the Omni-Tool required any skills to use it. I assume that the associated skill is lockpicking, because my hacking/mechanical skills are quite high.

I would appreciate it if the info in the Omni-Tool description was changed so that it states that it's actually a skill-associated tool. Thanks.

General / Re: Adding/Removing Items from the Barter Window Quickly?

Seems likely that it was just a demo issue.

The increased price of ammo compared to the demo is actually ludicrous...

I'm okay with some scarcity at the beginning, but IMO one of the biggest problems of RPGs is that money often ceases to become an issue a little bit into the game.

I think it's important that, if you want to not really have to pick-and-choose items as you play, that your character be focused on money-generating skills (lockpick/hacking/pickpocket, mercantile, tradeskills). In that way, characters that use the skills can seriously benefit from them while other characters have to get by with what they can get (as befits their skill layout).

Conversely, I think it's important that crafting be accessible early game.

Suggestions / Burst Trajectory
« on: May 15, 2013, 05:42:55 am »
I was using the Burst ability, because I was getting overrun with Rathounds, and I was pretty confident that the enemy I was shooting was directly in front of another one... but the following shots didn't hit the one behind him.

I'm kind of hesitant to use the ability again since I don't seem to be able to predict the trajectory...

If there were some kind of visible trajectory it'd make the ability far more usable.

Bugs / Bug - Crowbar Durability

Just noticed the crowbar has no durability despite other melee weapons having durability.

Bugs / Re: Computer Stops Responding on Startup
« on: May 15, 2013, 05:08:07 am »
Okay, it was going well for a while there (albeit the loads/transitions/saves got weirdly longer compared to the demo) but then when I was taking the elevator somewhere it did it again. It stopped responding to the point that I wasn't allowed to do anything else on my computer.

It's seriously annoying when not only the game stops responding but for some reason my computer does too : / ...

Bugs / Path-Finding through Unexplored Areas
« on: May 15, 2013, 02:10:47 am »
I've noticed that when I am looking at the other side of a closed fence with a back entrance (that I've never seen) my character still knows EXACTLY how to get there. Enemies seem to be the same way, which would be excusable if it was just a single fence and they knew the area, but they actually instinctively know that a back entrance has opened that was closed before, despite not having seen it happen.

The fix would probably be: don't let path-finding function through unexplored areas and if a door was closed the last time someone saw it, that someone's path-finding shouldn't lead through it normally.

I wasn't able to uninstall it in the normal fashion, so I restarted my computer and deleted the files from the Desura folder then installed from scratch. It seems to have worked! So it seems like something went wrong during the installation process which made it do really weird things the first time around.

Bugs / Saving Taking really Long?
« on: May 14, 2013, 08:06:34 pm »
I just came from the demo and bought the alpha on Desura, it isn't working on my desktop so I've started playing on my laptop.

I don't recall exactly how long it took to save during the demo, but I know that it was at least 5 times faster than saving in the alpha seems to be.

Anything I can do about this? : /

EDIT: I reinstalled and got the game working on my Desktop, it seems it's just my laptop where saving takes a while.

Bugs / Computer Stops Responding on Startup
« on: May 14, 2013, 04:10:39 am »
I enjoyed the demo a lot so I went ahead and bought it on Desura, but when I try to play it it opens a window with nothing in it and EVERYTHING on my entire computer stops responding. I can't open anything and ctrl+alt+del does nothing. I can mouse my mouse but clicking things doesn't elicit a response.

I tried opening in administrator mode to no avail, I'm a little hesitant about trying again...

What is going on?
