And for using XAL pistol (reducing CD of Escape Artist) it's actually underpowered.

You're talking from a perspective of OP psion. Other builds have less active powers.

BTW it was nerfed already during testing - it used to have cooldown of 2.

I've made a program that can decode text from Music Cipher in Nexus of Technology and give information about the process.
It was made with Hard difficulty in mind but may also work if you're playing on Normal or DOMINATING. Starting at version 0.5 should work on Easy difficulty.

The program can outright decode the puzzle but I encourage You to try decoding yourself.
After decoding all you need to do is to find your numbers in the text.

It's also for players who already know how to solve the puzzle and don't want to do the busywork.

It's a 32 bit Qt application compiled for Windows 7.
Some numbers have colours - currently they don't mean much but i have plans to make them more meaningful.

If you don't want to / can't use the program but want the code you can post your data, in text format (copy it from game with Ctrl+C), here and i (or someone else) will decode it.
There's a file with example data you can use for learning purposes.

Let me know of any bugs and issues. And have fun deciphering puzzles!


Hint: on the Easy difficulty level encoded keypad code is separated from the rest of the text like in the picture below:

Quick question > I saw that there is an interesting item called Spirit Staff. It requires 6 Strength, is it worth spending points in strength for a pure psi build psychosis as the bonus is very appealing? Or it will be obtained only near end game?

Not meeting STR requirement of weapons doesn't affect psi abilities. It affects chance to hit with that weapon.
So not worth it.

Mutie shop offers broadhead bolt blueprint (bleeding based bolt) and small quantities of rusting acid vial/bolts.
Rusting acid is good vs robots and can be extracted from new creatures (sea wyrms) with enough biology (80) and used in crafting with enough (80) chemistry.
Other than that - nothing special.

Becoming friendly with muties will grant you access to their shop. You'll also be able to acquire certain important information that can be very useful for dealing with Expedition's finale.

I've heard it's not the only way to get that information but cannot confirm it.

If you have enough Persuasion you can convince them to let you in before giving them supplies. It opens an option to do... something else for them and not having to deliver supplies.

There's also and option to not talk with their leader, sneak inside unnoticed and get what you want. Be careful tho as there's something you can do down there that will give muties a hint you were there without their permission.

I know of no other source of med supplies than Aegis camp.

Fast Metabolism: Always recommneded if you have the Con for it.  The bonus healing is nice no matter what, and since it also increases the healing from Regen Vests, you'll get benefit from it even if you rarely pop healing hypos.  The +33% to psi booster effectiveness is really excellent.  Especially for Psychosis builds, you're going to be running low on psi all the time.  You may see people telling you that Psychosis shouldn't take the feat because you don't get a deeper psi pool, but I have to disagree.  Any time you use a psi booster and get more than 75 psi, you're benefitting from this feat.

With Expedition it's even better for Psychosis builds since there's now a new way of increasing PSI pool that doesn't cost feats or item slot.

I love this armour for its looks but i actually love it even more for its stats.
Initiative? Yes, please.
Huge bio resistance and good vs melee? Oh, yes. Serpents, creepers and locusts won't like it. Neither will some enemies in Deep Caverns. I can't sneak in that armour but there's no need for that if enemies can't hurt me. And there's no sneaking on jet ski anyway.
It also protects me from gas barrels and gas grenades i throw.
More persuasion? Now i can pass more persuasion checks. Cool.

Since i pretty much always use cryo pistol in water fights i was expecting to get Opportunist but i recently realised i'm getting large (25%) bonus while slowed targets should have smaller one (15%).

I tried other weapons and larger opportunist bonus is applied to serpents that are neither slowed nor immobilized/stunned.

I found bear traps very useful for machete build as they negate target's dodge.
I invested skill points into traps so my enemies could not detect them.
And i picked Quick Tinkering for more dodge negation with bear traps.

Other options include flashbang + throwing net and a stingball grenade.

Figured I'd use this thread to ask - my last dominating psi char used tranquility instead of psychosis - is this option still competitive now that we have feats with further psi cost reduction?

It's more than competitive, Tranquility is much better than Psychosis now thanks to Temporal Manipulation that benefits from Tranq and only suffers from Psychosis. Temporal will also add you action points which means you'll be needing more PSI points so additional cost reduction will come in handy.


Not to say build with Psychosis can't benefit from Temporal - it can, it's just Tranqulity and Temporal Manipulation have mutual benefits.

Christ how is your upkeep cost so low? Psi beetle carapace brings it down to about 23, Max quality mufflers would bring it down to 15 or so... Advanced psi empathy?

You could walk around with it permanently on...

You don't really need other sources. You can counter Precog's cost with Advanced psi empathy or Mantra in addition to mufflers, psi carapace and a regen of high level psiker.
Fortunately Psychosis doesn't increase Precognition's upkeep.

There might be some other sources. You'll find out soon (:
