Now pardon me for being frank by saying this but "Crafted rifles/shields are useless"?

That's simply not true.

Suggestions / Some ideas that *could* be handy
« on: January 22, 2016, 01:54:54 pm »
Greetings

I've put about 300 hours into Underrail and based on my personal experience here's some things that I feel should be implemented (now I'll try not to mention things that've already been mentioned like currency priorities etc.)

1) Add a hotkey for you to switch between targets, I've experienced times where you'll have an enemy standing visually behind a set of open doors etc. and you just can't select them because the cursor will just interact with said door(s) and not the target visually behind them.

2) Trade value counter which specifically states the exact value of the total sum of items you wish to buy/trade so that you won't need to select 1 coin from the 'purse' until it's spot on, admittedly a small thing yes but it would be 'handy' rather having to bring out the calculator.

3) Personal notes, I feel a game such as this could benefit from having the option to fill in personal entries in a logbook or whatever.
Yes we have the quest-log but that's solely for quests unless I'm missing something but there are various things that's worth of taking note like what specific items does certain traders buy, the messy family 'debacle' which you get to 'enjoy' in the first bit of the JKK quest-line and so on.

Now correct me if I'm out of the 'loop' but can't you go back to the black eels and tell them that you've found him and then have them send some guys over with you to help killing him?

Anything's possible as long you've yet to reach the 'end-game' area.

I take it when you say rifles you mean a combo of sniper/assault rifles yes?

In that case I would HIGHLY recommend to carry all the AP ammo you can for the 'end-game' of things, if you can help it bring some of that over-the-top awesome ammunition like acid bullets, whichever goes in the rifles you prefer (Spearhead 7.62mm caliber all the way for me anyway), try to get an energy shield emitter with some 'high frequency values'.
Since you already have the 10 STR you could probably make use of some hefty heavy armor, usually they tend to have high resistance values etc. but I've yet to make a character using heavy armors, so far only been using tactical & leather armors.

I figure as long you bring that AP ammo and some good bits of armor/shielding I don't see why you shouldn't be able to finish the end-game.

General / Re: Smart Module
« on: January 22, 2016, 01:06:06 pm »
Has anybody actually tested what types of attacks are affected by Smart Module and/or Smart Lens?

I was trying to burst attack one guy with my SMG with and without Smart Goggles and didn't see any difference in average damage. Also if Bursts are counted as special attacks then single shots should deal less damage - but I haven't noticed this.

Edit: tested more. Crafted 7.62mm Impala SMG with Smart Modules (+40% special attack bonus) and also using +29% Smart Goggles. Shooting W2C single shots and bursts against heavily armored enforcer.
Single shots: 40-65 damage
Burst shots (each bullet): 50-95 (!!) damage

This is while the weapon says 16-32 and combat stat sheet says 28-56.

Daka daka motherfucker!  8)

Bugs / Re: "hunter" feat bug 1.0.0.7

Ehm hem...

Dead men don't talk.

But yes that sucks if he actually was standing there behind his desk in camp hathor(?), you manage to speak to him once and then don't get to talk to him a second time to ask for that hunter training? talk about unfortunate timings  :-\

But if it's of any worth the hunter feat only works with crossbows and knives unless the feat itself works differently than the description details.

Technically you can do his quests without a single point in stealth, although for his cybernetic-spawn 'plant job' you'll need some stealth armor + stealth generator (?) but other than that you shouldn't be unable to succesfully do his job unless of course you don't have 80 lockpicking and need to kill the guard in the camera-room (if you kill the guard in said room fast enough you *COULD* loot the key and get into the vent shaft before anyone comes looking.

Although much later when you're at a certain mansion it'll be messy not having stealth but you can do it anyhow, that is if you can kill every single being in that place, leaving no witnesses.

Now look my good man I too had a VERY VERY heavy psionic oriented character and I had a somewhat close fight but still ended up defeating him and this was with all 7 tentacles and all 3 mutagen tanks operational.

I had a crazy psionic headband with the neural-whatever feat (+15 psi points to maximum pool) as well as meditation (+25 psi points to maximum pool) and atop of that I used a regenerative vest with psi-beetle scale(s)? and an energy shield with 2x 130'ish high frequency modules + recharger which ended up being roughly 1500'ish shielding in total.
All I did was using neural overload as well as some psionic drugs like focus and trance stims, admittedly I got 2 crits off which usually means 500-600 but Tchort still has 2000 health so again it was a bit touch 'nd go not to mention this was my first try since I got too frustrated trying to recreate the exitus-1 sequence.

In my honest opinion you're doing it wrong if you're dependent on one or two psionic powers only in order to win a fight, then again perhaps metathermics aren't as powerful on it's own like thoughtcontrol and psychokinesis are.
My psionic has 135 points in thought control & psychokinesis although I did put 70 in metathermics for the sake of being able to learn from the mentors related to that skill.

Other than that I must say it sounds like a bug if Tchort itself cannot be hit by the cryo-orb.

Now I might be an uptight bastard for saying this but; The mere revelation of such a place is a spoiler in itself really. (even the faceless doesn't even know of it's existence)
But other than that yes it is quite alien compared to everything else you'll see for the most part of the game and at the same time something to be in awe by merely looking at it.

A shame that you can't 'access' the other bits of 'memory' from the "mainframe" even if you have a will stat of 16.
Even with all the 'shards' of 'memories' that's possible to obtain it still doesn't give any kind of complete picture but then again that's probably intentional since it definitely hints at things of the past and what's to come.

I've put almost 300 hours into this game since I purchased it which was couple of days after Underrail was officially released.

People like me have been STARVING TO DEATH to no end, waiting for a game such as Underrail and I am VERY grateful that Styg kept working on this great title of his as well as those who supported him along the way.

Hopefully it'll not be another 7 years till we could see a fully fleshed out sequel of sorts, all depends on sales I could imagine so here's to hoping for another one of these!
