Bugs / (Arena) Zap has no shield emitter?
« on: March 03, 2016, 01:35:55 am »
Just killed Zap in the Arena, and despite very clearly using a shield, he doesn't appear to carry a shield emitter. Is this deliberate?  ???

I would be very happy with a sequel that built on the first game, and in which virtually all of the development time had gone into adding new content and new assets in a new area, rather than half of it having gone into building another game more or less from the ground up.

You're just getting hung up on semantics though. No idea what you hate about the word sequel so much, but like I said, there are lots of very good sequels that are basically the prior game's assets and engine with a new game's worth of content. Nothing wrong with it.

There's no law that says sequels must be technically distinct from their predecessors. A lot of the best sequels in gaming used practically identical assets and systems to their predecessors. Fallout 2, Baldur's Gate 2, STALKER CoP, etc.

If there is enough content planned for an entire new game, and if it picks up from where the story left off, then for all intents and purposes it is a sequel.

The ending of Underrail practically begs a sequel in North Underrail.

General / Re: Jack Quicksilver - When does he give his last quest?

Ah, okay. I wondered whether it was possible to finger the correct suspect but fail to complete the quest optimally anyway due to missing some piece of the puzzle. Probably not, since I remember Lenox being really picky about me getting everything just right.

Since i'm very special person i did Everard's quest correctly but failed at murder quest.

How'd you do this and still complete the quest, anyway? Just skipped one of the steps? Or fingered the wrong person?

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear - the only places I went in the manor without sneaking were on the ground floor. No one ever saw me in the basement and they aren't hostile as long as I don't enter it a second time, however if I enter the basement a second time the faction instantly goes full hostile and combat initiates, even if I'm entering in sneak mode via the back entrance where no one ever is. I have to assume there's some sort of trigger zone on the ground by that entrance with erroneous values or something.

Everard's assignment - Todor must be found innocent. Any other route is sub-optimal because it results in him being expended as an agent.

Meet Lenox Pierce - you must gather all of the evidence and figure out what caused Patrick's death; in general this means questioning everyone you can, examining all of the data on the terminal in the SGS mortuary, getting information about Patrick from Jon the Beautiful, and getting information on the Spectres from Oskar. Also as of the last patch it's a valid solution to kill the suspect after confronting him with the evidence, rather than having to identify the murder weapon etc with Lenox.

Meet Ohad Xander - get information from Jon, acquire a Hercules sample, have Pasquale analyse it, and then either give the data to Gene or upload it to the Trim network yourself using the terminal in the under-passages where all of the Motioners hang out.

It's almost always Everard's assignment that people mess up.

Bugs / Talloski manor faction goes hostile when entering from basement
« on: February 29, 2016, 12:14:05 am »
I think it's a no-witnesses zone bug probably similar to this one:

http://underrail.com/forums/index.php?topic=2053.0

I haven't committed any crime in the house that was witnessed by someone, but entering the house through the basement causes everyone to instantly go hostile and automatically initiates combat regardless. Note that I can enter through the basement once without this happening, but if I e.g. enter through the front, talk to Sophie or Maxim, go get the spawn from Twitch, and then try to enter through the basement to put it in one of the ventilation ducts there, it will trigger the bug.

Option to climb boxes to gain entrance into Talloski Manor - activator says "Cimb up" rather than "Climb up".

Does a dialog option to ask Jon about Thallo pop up if you ask him about Wit Nosek before learning his alias?

I'm actually pretty happy with the game's ability to supply hints without holding the player's hand too much. The only thing I've felt was just too oblique was the spore thing in Deep Caverns.

Thalloski (:

Really?

I guess I can kind of see it, but that seems very obtuse.

Am I imagining it or is there absolutely no information in the game to connect Wit Nosek to the Talloski manor? The data you find on him in Panacea assigns him an alias "Thallo" which appears to be completely irrelevant to anything, and other than that the only clue you have as to his location is from the Oculus system which suggests he's "probably" somewhere in Core City. Aside from this, it seems there is no real lead on him within the game, and you must find him by simply bumbling into the Talloski manor for no reason and sneaking up to the attic, also for no reason.  ???

The vocal minority will always be comprised mostly of complainers.

Fun with fallacies: same argument could be applied to those who complained about the old font being hard to read.  :P
