I killed Carni at the first attempt. What the hell.

I'm so jealous! Nice job!

What was your build/spec? :O

Unfortunately I couldn't manage to beat the game without some significant save-scumming at certain points.

Can i ask how many reloads did you have to do in the final fight? To get some perspective)

The final fight (If you mean the boss fight) wasn't too bad. It was the rest of DC that required a large amount of save-scumming, I don't have an accurate estimate of reloads. But it was an EMBARRASSING amount of save scumming. ;(

I'm going to try a chem-pistol build next, I think it will be much more viable.

Do you mind sharing your general build?

Lvl 15, S8(9)/D3/A3/C7/P13/W3/I6
Maxed Guns/Throw/Hack/Lock/Mech/Elec
Mixed Chem/Bio/Tail
I could have put points into stealth or persuasion without much loss here

Conditioning, Aimed Shot, Expertise, Opportunist, Quick Pockets, Juggernaut, Full Auto, Commando, Concentrated Fire

Rapid Muzzled Hornets 7.62/8.6/9mm
Smart Anatomical Bipod Corsair 12.7
Smart Goggles (used adaptive for a long time at first)
Efficient High x2 Shield, working on Efficient Low x2 for meleers
Boots are double plate + dense foam

Stealth Gear:  Muzzled Silenced Jackrabbit 5mm, ninja tabis, hopper soft black leather, black balaclava, cloak device

Utilities are absolutely essential; get tactical with them, and carry at least 15 bear traps anytime you go out

I finally finished dominating with a heavy gunner build utilizing the tips you provided. I traded throwing for stealth, allowing me to avoid certain fights in DC.

Unfortunately I couldn't manage to beat the game without some significant save-scumming at certain points. :( Huge props to anyone able to.

Thank you for posting your build!
PS: DC is a living nightmare, I'm not sure how anyone could do it without tons of save-scumming. Stockpiled traps like a madman, by the end I had practically nothing left in my inventory to utilize.

General / Re: The Future of UnderRail and it's main storyline
« on: October 07, 2017, 08:22:12 am »
I will do this.

@Styg   Looking forward to the update.

@Altos   Yes, it's another chance at roleplay... but I hate how sequels continuously mar/taint the continuity and overall feel of the original RPG. "Good" RPG sequels are hard to come by, and I don't feel like Underrail's ending really sets up for a new character story (starting at level 1). Unless there's a planned Underrail 3 and 4...

I don't like the idea of a sequel in this scenario, and not only for the story-oriented concerns, but for the legacy of Underrail 1. But obviously if there was going to be one, now would be a pointless time to discuss it.
-----------------------

Underrail still has a big opportunity with future story-based DLC, and the ability to wrap up a story in an interesting and compelling way.

They could always do an expansion to Underrail 2 that used the protagonist from the first game rather than from the second. Similar things have been done in some other expansions, like for NWN/2. But I think it more likely that they might get around this problem by using Underrail's underpinning theme of temporal weirdness.

I understand that there could be some value in doing something like that. But frankly, that might be a little too difficult to implement as a DLC for a sequel. The "temporal weirdness" thing you mention, that's exactly the type of "half-@$$'d" plot device/writing that spurs an RPG sequel T_T. I feel a sequel would taint the story, more so than a "good DLC" to an original-game ever could.        (DLC>Sequel)

Well you got to remember there's a financial aspect to this as well. Expansion and DLC sales are usually determine by the sale number of the base game. A sequel can possibly draw in a new player base + existing fan base of the original. Like I said before if you like something please support the shit out of it or it'll die and disappear. If sale numbers are good I'm pretty sure we'll get more Underrail and/or other IP by Styg & Co.

Yeah I understand,

It just pains me, the age-old "Original vs. Sequel" disconnect, and the tremendous inconsistencies that plague them (Even when devs try to eliminate inconsistencies, many will prevail).

I truly would hate to have a sequel to underrail, where it could have just been expanded. Perhaps they could make a different IP though. A cool story expansion taking us to North Underrail to a final confrontation would be amazing.

Always hated the weird disconnect sequels bring to these style of RPG's.

Personally, would have much preferred the story either be expanded on in a DLC, or no Sequel at all.

T_T  PS: I hate sequels.

It ends on a cliffhanger with more questions than answers, so I'm looking forward to a sequel. That is, if it wasn't written "Lost" style, meaning made up as he went all along as most tv shows are

Nothing that couldn't be done in another xpac? >_> maybe

I certainly hope their sales are doing well.

But @Hal900 I hope there is never a sequel. Sequels disjoint story-lines, and often create inconsistent experiences.

As for the dev team, we're keeping our heads down for most part and working towards releasing the expansion as soon as we can.

The sales are doing decently and company is not in any danger for the moment, so don't worry about that.

Glad to hear sales are doing decent! Thank you for creating a fantastic RPG experience. <3 I CANT WAIT FOR THE XPAC

Suggestions / Re: Remove level cap.
« on: February 03, 2017, 01:26:50 pm »
Sorry I'm a month late to this discussion!  I wanted to give my "two cents" anyways. I have well over two thousand hours in CRPG's as well.

Personally I agree that the level cap of 25 feels very low in the game. Hitting 25 can be done
without doing any side quests, and comes well before the end of the game. Perhaps raising the soft
cap in the expansion to 30, and the hard cap to 35. (Hard cap being Vet Levels, and Soft cap
being regular levels)

Those extra 5 regular levels could still be reached by completing only a few sidequests, and then the
veteran levels could be attained beating the rest of the side quests in the game. Making the "veteran"
levels a proper veteran challenge.

Anyways, excited to see more of the expansion(s) in the future. Keep up the good work guys.

I agree. If we get sequel, then it's like 2 half-finished games. But if they continue to build upon the original game, this makes one true masterpiece. A game that will be re-played for a long time after release.

Yes!!!!

Styg, make the announcement already!!!!  haha

So glad to hear it's a large expansion, rather than a new game.

Too many RPG's get sequel farmed. Expansions > Sequels xD

<3 Can't wait for the announcement.
