One more question though : is there a way to get into the FD base without being sent by the protectorate?
By joining FD? 😅🤣 Otherwise I think it is all locked up with "quest locks".

Killing everyone at for apogee and try getting the key to the room with the ladder?

Thanks.

Saving the train would have required some higher level at that time; as often in this game, I should have come back but was lazy, so this time again I snitched to the Protectorate; during the interview with Colonel Cathart (at Apogee), I told him that I did not want to join. This is neutral too.

BTW: my original post was incomplete; it was enough for you at least to get the gist.

One more question though : is there a way to get into the FD base without being sent by the protectorate?

Bugs / Port Crag possible bug ?
« on: August 30, 2021, 06:59:38 pm »
In Port Crag, in the NE building, you can enter a pipe to reach the NW building (there was an agility check, but can't remember whether it was 6 or less (my character has a base agility of 5, so less than 6)

But I can't make the return agility 8 check. I tried to kill everyone outside (too difficult at level 22, even packing them in the SW (detonating TNT behind the Metal beams).

As I spend a two hours killing the pirates in the NW building and exploring the basement, I would want to avoid reloading an older save.

I played the game 5 years ago, and appreciated it a lot (one of the 10 best games ever). Glad to see how the game has evolved (map++ and many other things).

One aspect I did not like back then was the FD vs Protectorate choice and consequences. Now, remembering it, I would like to be somehow truly neutral about that - save the train

I played in May last year, so I don't know what changes were made since then. I was frustrated at the beginning of DC because (1) I did not know you can't get health there (my character had practically NO crafting status so I could not generate any) and (2) I was sent there a little bit by surprise - can't remember any warning about a no return in the game AND I did not want to play again a large piece since a previous game . The I was upset, and frustrated... until I could guess how to overcome or play the many nasty enemies. However, the good thing is that I was friend with both the Tchortists and the Faceless - this helps a lot. For two things only, I had to look at a solution. After overcoming all these, I gave a 5 star rating to the game, because this is exactly what I am looking for : a challenge that can be overcome.

Go for the real play now!

I am interested in the answer to that question. During my only playthrough I was a friend to the Faceless (even though I killed the one at Railroad Crossing, and a few more North of the blockade at the City).

So I can't answer your question, and would like to know how all other players in the same situation as you could finish the game.

Spoiler:

I don't understand! Can't you get the "ventilation shaft opening tool"? I can't remember how it is called, but am pretty sure you can get one very early in the game - or purchase one at one of the station store.

End of spoiler

Thanks for the hint. I do not intend to do this completionist quest, but I will certainly remember the trick about JKK/Praetorian. In my run, I used TNT for diverting guards once, but for entering the palace.

How did you do that? I am curious, as I have noticed that some would need you assault a faction or a building (e.g. entering one of the three faction buildings in the city prevent you to enter the two others).

Or am I missing something ?

Carniflex was no big deal to me. As the initial poster on this topic, I had mostly a psy+crossbow+some stealth+dex 6+1 (hopper burger?) when I killed him. Can't remember my level, but not very high.

1- start combat manually (more chances to get initiative).
2- fear
3- electric area (one square psy trap that stun him) and/or stun
4- crossbow when he is stunned (with poisoned bolts)
5- Wall (can't remember the name of the skill)
6- hide behind the pillar or behind the psy wall when he is not stun so as to get enough time to his stun immunity to fade

PS: during all the first part of the game I did not use any craft. I >had< to gain some to create psy and health potions in SPOiLER DC, but could have avoided wasting points if I knew I would not find many health there END OF SPOILER

Suggestions / Re: New feat: Tactician

Does it balance well? I mean, will it bias the game (easier if you take this perk)?

I must say that I would have very much appreciated it...

Come on guys do you really have to write (semi) spoliers in this thread?
If you for some reason can not refrain from that please give a warning or even better spoiler cover.

Some of us are still paitiently waiting to play the game. Even though I bought it on Desura several years ago I always wait 1-3 years after release to play a game to get the best experience (due to patches, dlc, more content and mods).

The only reason to play a SP game on release nowdays is a feeling of social belonging and/or preassure. Everyone has tons of backlogs.

/End rant

Dear Cancle,

I am the same like with respect to today's games: you pay them in advance, you wait for them for a year or two or more, and discover they are not finished yet.

However, it does not apply to Underrail: I played it starting May this year, and can tell you that you can start spending time in it.

For your information: I reported 2-3 minor bugs (fixed), 1 suggestion (rejected with good reasons), and one major bug (from my point of view, it is a bug; not answered yet, but not story breaking - just a matter of well... I will not spoil). All in all, I complained to myself during the game (too difficult, no map, where to go, etc.) After finishing the game, I gave it 5 stars here and there, and realised my complains were mostly related to things I had not yet learned well about the mechanics of the game.
Recommendations (this can apply to many games, so I do not consider it a spoiler):
- You MUST use your skills. If not, you die.
- From what I read, whatever skills you learn, you can make it, provided you focus on a few (spoiler : 4-6, my guess)
- There are good endings and probably bad endings (I understand the end phase can be tricky if you don't do xxx or yyy  [I will not give spoilers here]
- There are various ways to accomplish things (I could in many cases choose from 2 or 3 in "dungeons", from 1 or 2 in major battles).
- Spolier: With respect to Gorsky (or any significant NPC or factions), they have some personality, so you have to make some choices... Gorsky is neither bad nor good, he is who he is...

I will not replay the game right now, because I had a very satisfactory run, and don't want to explore the many variations around skill builds and scenarios choices (I missed a thing or two though). However, I will play the DLC provided it is a continuation of the story (so I can level up my Level 25+60XP character) and I might spend another 80 hours in a few years.

Just remember guys, Gorsky is a bad man, he needs to be killled. He hates protectorat and any one who hates them, Cannot be spared.

Well, as for many NPCs, I find Gorsky neither bad or good, he is who he is, with his own motives etc. A little blunt and impolite, though.

Did you get Mordre's confess? If not and you kill him without traps, the whole SGS turn hostile.

That Protectorate you see is SGS guard. Are you sure his name has Protectorate title?

I reloaded an old game related to the situation: You are correct. The tag is "Sentry", I confused with him/her with a protectorate guy.

WRT the rest of your reply: I can't remember exactly what happened in the scenario where I would attack Mordre (I remember talking to him with all the proofs in hands (cross-checked with a solution on a forum). Attacking him after he names me a judge would turn the sentry agpro.

Nevertheless, In both cases (Mareth and Mordre) people behaving aggro were not in the same room (or in the case of Mareth, very far away).

I am impressed!

SuNo.
PS: for all new players : Sure a map would have helped me a lot finding my way rather than wandering. However, even though I was mad at not having a map when playing (as for many other choices in the game), retrospectively, it added some uncertainty and fun.
