Iris' dialogue should probably be reword to something like:

You thought it (the famine) was due to bad management from the apex technocrats, as well as to other recent environmental and geopolitical changes. Your predictions for the future of Biocorp and Underrail were negative in general, this only further attributing to it.

Bugs / Fire and Giant Weaver spiderweb

Fire used to completely burn away Giant Weaver spiderweb. Now when you throw incendiary grenade on spiderweb the graphic part of the spiderweb will "burn" away but if you step on the "clean" tile you still get slow (web) status.

Meditation with +psi pool feats and equipment from expedition is now 100% redundant.

Well, just want to note expedition spirit staff was nerfed and no longer reduce psi cost.

Ok, let's talk actual builds.

This build here:
http://underrail.info.tm/build/?GQMDBwcDEAcAAAAoAABkU2QAADhUADA4S8KHRkYPAE8rDjk_FCodKFAhTcKEwocKEuKdtAPiorUC4qiSBd-_

(Given at level 25, so it has 3 more feats, 5 more SP and loads more skill points to spare.)
What exactly would you replace disassemble with, that has such noticeably "better opportunity cost"?

In order of decreasing preference:
Thermodynamicity - Tran psi w/ psi cost reduction gear can spam ice + fire combo wiping everything in one turn.
Pyromaniac - for those sweet fear effect, very effective when combine w/ Thermodynamicity.
Meditation - a tran psi's limiting factor is psi pool, more psi = more psi ability spam.
Neural overclocking - just because you are going Tran psi route doesn't mean your psi won't crit.
Power Management - not as important for psi since you can just CC everything, but a bigger shield is always a plus.

As for the specialization points:
Exposed Weakness is ... questionable in this build. But if you are set on getting it I would get exposed weakness duration +1.
Hemopsychosis cooldown is what I would go for. But I will admit your build as is these two choices isn't *that* much better than 5 SP for disassemble.

General / Re: Question re: shock & acid bolt damage via specialization
« on: December 01, 2019, 10:34:56 pm »
Thanks for the confirmation epeli.

I ended up getting Bowyer SP because looking at the numbers it still buff the elemental part of the damage, which isn't really that far off from Elemental Bolts SP. With Blindsiding + Opportunist bonus the higher raw damage wins the argument in my mind. YMMV.

Edited: been playing this char on and off and now I have buyer's remorse. Elemental Bolts is the superior specialization over Bowyer because you have to wait until level 30 to (re)craft your best crossbow(s); whereas if you take Elemental Bolts SP the damage buff applies automatically (level 25 ~ level 30).

I think it's still a bad choice due to opportunity cost.

There are usually better feat choices than disassemble that would grant firepower and/or utility for any build. The 5 lost specialization points (SP) is especially painful. 5 SP could mean 25 ~ 200% lost critical damage bonus for crit build, major cooldown reduction like psi build, etc that couldn't be compensate by higher quality gears.

As title, so it'll allow for critical damage testings as well.

Ok I'm going to take a stab at the math and calculations but I'm not sure if they will be correct. Please feel free to correct me if they are wrong or confirm them if they are right.

Level 30, Calculate for 10 Critical Power specializations (SP) only, no other SP

From Builder: Weapon damage = 316% from Effective Crossbow skill
Base Cyclon damage: 24~48 (mechanical)
Shock bolt MKI 3~33 (electrical) * Elemental Bolts (100% bonus) = 6~66 (E)

Non-critical damage = 75.84~151.68 (M) + 6~66 (E) = 81.84~217.68

Critical damage = [75.84~151.68 (M) + 6~66 (E)] * (100% + 445%) = 413.328~826.656 (M) + 32.7~359.7 (E)
Total = 446.028~1186.356

5 SP to Bowyer
Critical damage = [75.84~151.68 (M) + 6~66 (E)] * (585%) = 443.664~887.328 (M) + 35.1~386.1 (E)
Total = 478.764~1273.428

5 SP to Elemental Bolts
Base Cyclon damage: 24~48 (M)
Shock bolt MKI 3~33 (E) * Elemental Bolts (125% bonus) = 6.75~74.25

Critical damage = [75.84~151.68 (M) + 6.75~74.25 (E)] * (545%) = 413.328~826.656 (M) + 36.7875~404.6625 (E)
Total = 450.1155~1231.3185

Shock bolt MKIII
Level 30, Calculate for 10 Critical Power specializations (SP) only, no other SP
From Builder: Weapon damage = 316% from Effective Crossbow skill
Base Cyclon damage: 24~48 (M)
Shock bolt MKI 9~69 (E) * Elemental Bolts (100% bonus) = 18~138 (E)

Critical damage = [75.84~151.68 (M) + 18~138 (E)] * (545%) = 413.328~826.656 (M) + 98.1~752.1 (E)
Total = 511.428~1578.756

5 SP to Bowyer
Critical damage = [75.84~151.68 (M) + 18~138 (E)] * (585%) = 443.664~887.328 (M) + 105.3~807.3 (E)
Total = 548.964~1694.628

5 SP to Elemental Bolts
Base Cyclon damage: 24~48 (M)
Shock bolt MKIII 9~69 (E) * Elemental Bolts (125% bonus) = 20.25~155.25

Critical damage = [75.84~151.68 (M) + 20.25~155.25 (E)] * (545%) = 443.664~887.328 (M) + 118.4625~908.2125(E)
Total = 523.6905~1672.7685

Acid Bolt 10~25 (Acid) * Elemental Bolts (100% bonus) = 20~50
Critical damage = [75.84~151.68 (M) + 20~50 (A)] * (545%) = 413.328~826.656 (M) + 109~272.5 (A)
Total = 522.328~1099.156

5 SP to Bowyer
Critical damage = [75.84~151.68 (M) + 20~50 (A)] * (585%) = 443.664~887.328 (M) + 117~292.5 (A)
Total = 560.664~1179.828

5 SP to Elemental Bolts
Base Cyclon damage: 24~48 (M)
Acid Bolt 10~25 (A) * Elemental Bolts (125% bonus) = 22.5~56.25 (A)

Critical damage = [75.84~151.68 (M) + 22.5~56.25 (A)] * (545%) = 413.328~826.656 (M) + 122.625~306.5625 (A)
Total = 535.953~1133.2185

Seems like Bowyer is the way to go? *looking at you epeli* :P

General / Question re: shock & acid bolt damage via specialization

So I'm currently starting to play this crossbow build:

http://underrail.info.tm/build/?HgMGBQkNAwcAQsKgAAAAwohLAAA9WHA2VmQALUZGXwA-KyJiMRYqwoA4AWpLfzMmwoXCpMK1wofip74K4rCQBd-_

Assuming 100% critical chance, max critical power specialization, fully focused, using Anatomically-Aware Scoped Pneumatic Cyclon Crossbow + quiver + marksman for 14AP shock & acid bolt, would you get more raw damage (ignoring relevant thresholds and resists) by using the remaining 5 specialization points on:

Critical damage bonus:
Base (100%) + AA scope (50%) + Bowyer (35%) + Sharpshooter (30%) = 215%
After Critical Power:
[100 + (215 - 100)3]% = 445%

Bowyer = +10% critical damage bonus = +40% critical damage bonus on mechanical and elemental damage after critical power bonus.

Or

Elemental bolts = +25% elemental damage

I'm not sure but I think elemental bolts bonus are multiplicative to critical damage bonus? If that's true wouldn't elemental bolts specialization out-damage Bowyer specialization here?

You want the "Skill check threshold" section. Crafting thresholds can be located starting from "Crafting & component reference part V".

Is it from a special encounter or?

Builds / Re: crossbow/shotgun build advice
« on: November 11, 2019, 01:36:23 pm »
I tried Destroyor's build today up to finishing depot. Is there any good reason to even use crossbow? I feel like grenades and shotgun alone is strong enough to deal with everything. And EMP could do better job than crossbow for robots, due to AoE and 2 turn stun. Shotgun to the face basically deletes everything, at least on Hard difficulty. Even for CC, I feel like Psi ability covers much more than crossbow, and it's usually cheaper on AP, plus it's basically free without ammo and reliable with 100% hit chance
I tried to use sniper instead of crossbow, I feel like it has better use for long-ranged support compared to crossbow. Idk why but I missed a lot with crossbow, even at 80% chance.
Also without crossbow, we could use Shell Strap Belt or even Doctors Pouch

Crossbow is there as a low AP cost long range stun CC/backup weapon. The low AP cost mean it's more forgiving even w/ a relatively low hit chance. You will use it when your psi CC abilities are on cooldown/low on psi/enemy out of shotgun range. Don't know about hard difficulty but I did find it useful on dominating.

Hey Destroyor, have you tried your build on dominationg? It looks interesting, but it seems to me that you have too low skill on a crossbow and for most targets, there will be a chance of hitting around 60%.

Yes like I said I'm playing it on dominating right now. My crossbow hit chance when focused (shoot before moving) is around 8x ~ 9x%. It's true I only get around 6x ~ 7x% crossbow THC when not focused.

Why take Barrel Stare and Leading Shot together? Aren't they mutually exclusive?
No they are not. At least for my build it's not. Barrel Stare is to ensure a shotgun shell to the face at melee range is lethal. Leading Shot is use to deal w/ high evasion enemies and to help trigger ThermoD.

Well, if you get +20% damage and lose 20% thc then net oucome is 0 as I understand. And on Dominating it could be more than 20% thc.

It's not as straightforward as that. For low evasion enemies (metal armor npc, crab, industrial bot, etc) it's not an auto -20% THC at close to melee range. Even when you shell a high evasion enemy in the face the missed pellets will usually hit some other enemies behind your main target. Barrel Stare is well worth the extra feat slot even when you have Leading Shot.

Bugs / Re: Protectorate Firearm omnilube

Omnilube last shot won't crash the game now.

Maybe this is for the next update (?) but omnilube is still only showing up when you select "all" or "non-plot" tab instead of "tools".

On a related note, I think psi mentor should also show up under "tools" as well instead of just "all" or "non-plot".
