Can you make a belt that change your gender?

Very well-formulated guide, thumbs up.

Some information, from having played many times (on Hard, Oddity):
-Underpassages, in the locked area with the rathounds and the alpha rathound on the second map, there can be a set of riot gear, but it is not guaranteed.
-Elwoods locker can contain either laser, plasma or electroshock pistol, I have seen them all. If you really want to bother with reloading you can probably reroll the chance by saving before you climb down to the basement.
-Give Old Jonas his watch back for free, and he will sell you batteries (ammo) at a decent price.

General / Re: Thoughts on 5/5 spec'ed disassemble.

I have done the same analysis, and like the look of Disassemble.
Sure, it is costly in terms of speciaization, you are, in effect, specializing hard into being a crafting master. This is ok.

This plan is better for characters who use advanced armor, and advanced weaponry, obviously.
You cant disassemple leather armors, and clots becomes dirty rags unfortunately, so you cant reuse your high-quality fabrics in overcoats (unless I have totally forgot, been a whie since I did my tests)

The potential use for a dedicated crafter is great, you can stay on top of the power level curve and can happily use everything you find in DC.

Bugs / You can trap yourself in place with a fishing pole.
« on: November 29, 2019, 08:41:39 am »
So, I explored one of the new random start dungeons, a cave with young azuridaes, a amall water hole and a campsite among other things.

After clearing the map, I went to the water hole, and sat down a fishing rod to catch some eels.

The problem:
Playaer character stood right by the water, on a sort of peninsula with only one way to move away. I could place the fishing rod one tile away, so the rod blocked the way out. I could not pick up the rod, because it blocked my movement, and could not move away either.

Result: Reload game.

Could be an edge case with map tiles, but I could see this happening in other fishing places as well.

General / Ballistics, it it useful?
« on: November 27, 2019, 11:20:00 am »
The Ballistics feat give carrier vests +3 mechanical damage threshold when you craft something.
Specialization (3pts) add +1 mech dam threshold per points so you can have maximum +6.

Carrier vests make the following armors:

-Tactical Vest
-Riot Gear
-Metal Armor

Is +3/+6 mechanical damage threshold worth a feat?
For vests and riot gear, that threshold is further multiplied against bullets/melee, but still, it is only mechanical damage reduction.
Against bullets, it does not help much against snipers, and heavy shotgun pellets and W2C bullets also penetrate threshold easily.

I would never take any of those feats. They are okay enough for what they do, but feats are limited and there is always a better alternative.

Btw, are there any negative consequences if you kill Milton after returning the key to him?

(Other than the fact he is quite though, and the non-measurable but significant damage to your personal ethics and morals from killing innocent people in caves)

To Milton (Hard mode) :
From SGS platform, go South, exit the SGS fence, then South again, to a dead end with rathounds, alphas and a dead man inside a room. Here is a small cave exit to the West amonh the mindshrooms. Go in to the cave, past pigs/warthogs, then North. Past many many psi beetles, keep heading North, Milton is past the river in the end. The Key to the locker is East, with many rathounds and alphas.

Elwood has an energy pistol in his locker. It can be any kind: laser, plasma or electro, it is RNG. Get his key, get past the sentries and mines and it is yours. This is generally the first energy gun you can easily and comfortably find, usually around clvl 6-8.

General / Re: Sword vs other melee weapons
« on: November 19, 2019, 06:53:33 am »
You need to hit the opponent first, then the % chance determines if you have a critical hit or not.

Yes, swords are built for devastating critical hits, more than most other weapons. 5 STR + 5 WIL + high DEX indeed seems like the way to go in most cases.

But with a lighly armored character like this, why not use a knife or fist weapon instead?

No, I think you are spot on. To say it bluntly: Swords suck.

In addition to your good summary, swords also require both DEX and STR to be effective, while knife/fists need mainly DEX, and sledge need mainly STR.
If you want to use Ripper you even need a bit of WIL. If you want some mobility and staying power, perhaps some crafting too... you need ability points all over the place.

The RNG part of Flurry/Onslaught is particularly annoying, unless you don't have a problem with savescumming. Personally, that is not the way I play games, so no Flurry for me, thank you.

The only interesting thing about swords is that they are one-handed, so you can use them with a shield. Can't see how to make it efficient compared to other melee, though.

General / Wrestling specialization, wiki
« on: November 06, 2019, 08:03:41 am »
Hi

From Wiki:

Wrestling
When you strike a living target with fist weapon or unarmed attack you have 50% chance to reduce target's movement points by 8, action points by 3 and chance to hit with all ranged weapons by 7%. Stacks 5 times.

Specializations
Wrestling (10 levels) — Increases the chance to apply the debuff by 10% for each specialization point.

This means that you can get up to 150% chance to apply the debuff? That seems strange. I wonder if this is correct?

Edit: Seems like the last part of the post was removed, I try again.

Builds / Re: Strength and Evasion are underwhelming
« on: November 05, 2019, 10:55:13 am »
Evasion is great when you have the spare skill points (not so easy). From time to time you will take a grenade hit or fail to spot a mine. A fragile character is dead then without evasion. If you play with the goal of not reloading more than absolutely necessary, you need evasion of you have low CON and light armor.

Builds / Any suggestions for a 10 CON stealth knife/utility build?
« on: November 03, 2019, 05:22:03 pm »
Hi

Looking to play something like in the title, on hard, oddity mode.

Requirements:
-10 CON from the start
-Stealth, good enough to use all the time
-No psionics, sorry
-Preferably using a knife, and utilities as needed

From the above, the following stats come naturally:
STR: 3
DEX: 10
AGI: 7
CON: 10
PER: 3
WIL: 3
INT: 4

First couple of points into INT, then DEX, I think.

Suggestions and criticism are welcome.
Would this work? Should I use traps? Any must-have feats or skills? Any particular situations that will give this character particularly much trouble?

Builds / Re: LIGHTNING FISTS + JUGGERNAUT!??! THEORY CRAFTERS HATE HIM!
« on: September 21, 2019, 12:38:02 pm »
When you look at a piece of armor in your inventory or a shop for example, you see XX% in red letters. That is armor penalty. If this is 50% or higher for body armor, Juggernaut should work. It is not exactly rocket science?

If we want to use Lightning Punches we have combined max armor penalty of 34% (or 39% after specializing if we blow our points here) so that we can get it down to 19% effective value with Nimble. (Waiting until lvl 26 for Body Weight Training is silly, by that time most of the game is over.)

Builds / Re: Crossbow Dominating Build (without Aimed shot and snipe)
« on: September 20, 2019, 06:03:11 am »
I play a character now that is very similar to this, using Xbow w/o Aimed shot etc, mainly special bolts, traps, stealth. It is good fun.

Main difference is that I dont use Psi, and go down to 5 AGI (for strafe) and have notably lower PER, in order to set CON to 10. Also, no evasion unfortunately.

The lower hit chance hurts less as you got bear traps, and ambush, to reduce targets evasion. Also, I believe special bolts do not get higher non-mechanical damage from Xbow skill.

Progression is a bit slow on account of lower perception, but it is good to be a stealthy hunter with riot gear and a solid hit point pool.
