Development Log / Re: Dev Log #51: New Weapon Types
« on: April 27, 2018, 03:23:02 am »
I've been thinking about what kind of build to use in expedition, and I have finally settled on machete + riot gear (though possibly siphoner leather later on).  Max strength, high agility, temporal manipulation, VERY high dodge/evasion.  We'll see what sorts of feats and whatnot we get that may change some of this, but I'm excited for it.

What is the actual difference between hard and dominating now, other than dominating having higher stats?  Are the numbers and types of enemies different too?

I'm asking because I think I want the "added" (if they actually are) enemies and types, but not their higher stats.

I just want to note that fights that are hard for some builds aren't hard for others.  My sneaky trap-laying crossbow sniper on hard did the mall on the first try, and barely had to actually fight anybody, whereas RH King for example took me many tries.

Use doors, bear traps, and caltrops + molotovs (if you have throwing) against groups of psi beetles.  Against lone ones, use your sniper rifle with aimed shot if you have one yet, otherwise just burst with a cheap smg once they open up.  Your pistols are going to suck for a while, so don't rely on them at first.  Dunno about your psi powers, I haven't used any myself yet.

HE mines do some damage at least because they ignore a portion of DR. Frag mines deal basically no damage at all. It is not much but considering the retarded HP bloat in this fight but everything that does even a little damage helps.

Yes, they do *some* damage, but you'd be better off putting a bear trap down instead of one.

Bear traps and HE mines, then.  With just the Jackknife you'll get the 5 you need to place HE.  That has no skill or stat requirements, and though you'd need to lay traps all the way along the fenceline back to where Dan and Saban stand, you could probably do it.

Don't bother with mark 1 HE mines there; they aren't good enough for that encounter.  When I did it, I placed over 40 bear traps and 20 HE mines, and the mines ended up being a waste.

Sure is middle school in here alluva sudden.

General / Re: [SPOILER] list of all random encounters

For me, the couch was in the map to the left of the lost vault.  The one with a lake in the middle and several beetles on the north shore.  Couch was in the lower left corner.

the locations don't matter, I believe

ive had several random encounters in the same few spots and each was different

Off the top of my head, I've encountered a mute fisherman who sells you fish
a random kamikaze bot
a pack of dogs
a couple plasma sentries
three ironhead berserkers
oh, and the couch

What are the real defenses against psi?

Resolve
Bullhead/thick skull
correct padding
sometimes shield emitters
pre-emptive black dragon poison

Frankly I don't know what you're supposed to do when they hit you with mental subversion and summon two dopplegangers.

It's hot garbage.  I was expecting bg3 and I got nothing of the sort.  It has some good ideas, and I like some of the locations, but overall it's a very unsatisfying game.  I regret buying it.

Crossbows have a hard time with robots; you're basically stuck with shock bolts and EMP grenades.

There are several intelligence and perception dialogue checks, and the doctor feat gives you some unique choices as well.  Agility can get you in to some areas you can't otherwise access (usually nothing special).

General / Re: Has the Beast encounter been buffed?
« on: January 07, 2018, 04:09:17 pm »
I figured it was just for dominating, but yes, it's been buffed.  I put down 42 bear traps and 20 HE mines (which ended up being a waste), and used almost all of them.  The last line of bear traps were getting used up when I killed the last wave.  I also used 4 crawler caltrops and 3 gas grenades.  I estimate there were 40 bladelings, total.

Actually, I just realized they're still good against enemies immune to bio stuff like mutants.
