I'd like to be a tester this time, if you end up having room.

That happened to me the first time I was about to fight the end boss on dominating.  I have to wait for expedition to come out before I can progress with that character, though the bug has been fixed since then.

It's fine.  You end up with more money than you can spend, and you'll be leaving loot behind by mid-game.

Here's some tips:
-aim for low-weight, high-value stuff (no crowbars, no rathound leather, no sledges, etc)
-leave cheap poor-condition (as in needs repaired) guns behind
-if what you're selling is worth more than what a merchant has, buy their bullets and/or batteries which you can always resell later
-use repair kits on expensive items that need it, then sell them
-if you can make repair kits, recycle bad items to repair good ones
-always pick up bullets; they are the best loot, medicine and electronics are great as well

All merchants restock every 90 minutes in real time.  If they restock and you enter their map, their inventory is set.  If you reload from earlier and do it again, it'll be something different; it's randomized.

General / In what conditions are cryo attacks optimal?
« on: May 30, 2019, 02:35:49 am »
I'm talking cryo chem pistol, chem blop traps, cryo gas.  I can't think of any times when they are better than fire or acid.

Pick a direction and shoot until you're out of AP or bullets.  I can kind of see it with AR's, but it clicks best with heavy machine guns.  Different guns would have different per-bullet burst AP costs, and different penalties to precision.

It's a big change, but I for one think it would be great.

Found another unmarked container, a barrel in the SW corner of the gangster camp on this map:

I don't think every 3 con build dies in one hit to a scanner.  Your resolve (will) and Int matter as well, and whether or not you took psi empathy.

Regardless, my two crossbow runs (hard and DOMINATING) both beat tchort despite 3 con.

I'm pretty sure Wildan beat tchort with a throwing-only build on hard.

Anyway, Qiox states in a later post on page 2 what I said earlier:  not viable, at least in the endgame.

You won't need to go to IRIS at all with your mechanics score as high as it is.

You simply cannot rely on evasion on DOMINATING.  I read about a guy who completely maxed out evasion in every way (almost; he had 14 agility by endgame) and even he could only reliably evade enemies with evasive maneuvers, I wanna say he had an effective evasion of like 1400?

Discussions / Re: Drones or Cans?
« on: May 05, 2019, 05:43:30 pm »
Free Drones.

Everybody calls them anarchists.  Their symbol is the anarchist symbol, and yet they only seem to preach that the protectorate is bad, not that any kind of government is bad.  If you talk to them, they all seem like at least decent people; they're very friendly and caring.  Contrast that with the protectorate, who range from stern to psychopathic, and for the non-military ones from depressed to just-happy-to-have-a-safe-job.  Some of the bad things they are known for sure sound like the doing of the CAU (like gassing the train that doctor arrived on) for false flag purposes.  The game has to go out of it's way to make them sound bad:  anarchist symbols, the train quest, the envoy quest, the bad rail crossing ending.

If you remove Malek, the CAU, and whichever types gave Holloway his intel (and that's just what we know of from the protectorate side; the free drones and gorsky have even worse things to say), then you'd have a decently good argument for the protectorate.  As it stands, they're a straight up bad-guy empire, and that's coming from someone who thinks the nazis were the good guys in real life.  Another thing to think about is this:  if the free drones can organize to fight the protectorate, then they could handle the iron heads instead if there were no protectorate, no big military needed.

Final word:  I'd rather deal with raiders than a big empire military lead by psychopaths.

That is probably the single toughest encounter in the entire game, except for maybe the very last one.  I managed to do it with my crossbow character hiding in the SW room once it opened up and restealthing ASAP after every robot I killed (crossbows are quiet).
I'd stealth out and snipe lone kamikaze bots and quick tinker bear traps for lone industrial bots then blast them with shock bolts with deadly snares.  Eventually I whittled the robots down to a handful and stealthed out the main door.  Minor spoilers:  there is more to do after that, but you ought to figure that out for yourself.

You can't avoid the encounter once you've gone through the vent without hacking.  I would equip a taser (maybe two?  not sure if they share a cooldown).  Once the alarm goes off, enter stealth and go to the first door that opens and kill those robots as fast as you can.  If you can do it before the next door opens, recharge your psi/health/shield if you can and head over to the next one that opens.  If you can't, stealth and find a quiet spot to recharge.  Nevil will almost certainly not survive, so don't worry about him too much.  If you can manage to do what I did, you'll eventually whittle them down, but after a certain point they will ALL be in the area and starting a fight means fighting all of them, and if you can't whack one or two and hide again without all of them coming down on you, you won't stand a chance.  I haven't played a psi character past lvl 8 or so, so I can't give you advanced advice on that.

It might also be clay.

As for paper, it can be made from a lot of different things, not just trees.

The main problem with this feat is that it's easy to be dazed for the entire battle as the enemy keeps hitting you with new stun attacks.  Without the feat, you are stunned for a round or two and then immune to stun for a couple rounds.  Would it be unbalanced to have that stun immunity after being dazed for the amount of time you'd ordinarily be stunned?

Another idea I've seen is giving them their own picture once placed, so you can click on that instead of pixel hunting.
