Junkyard.

Easily the capital Flagship of Underrail in its entirety as a game. If it had a free demo of the game as a vertical slice - that would be it.

Don't even know where to begin with how well this place is designed overall.

Suggestions / Allied NPCs in Coretech Warehouse and Expedition beach.
« on: July 26, 2020, 10:06:28 am »
The 3 Coretech agents during the Coretech Warehouse defence always run through all the caltrops and poison gas clouds(that you put there for the enemies) whereas the STs on the beach don't cross a certain line. It may not seem like a big detail but the agents' behaviour has a rather suspension-breaking effect - probably more obvious to newer players. If the agents generally hold their positions it would be more flavourful from gameplay perspective, and it will also help the player with the quest - it isn't exactly an easy encounter after all.

The Sec Troopers on the beach like to spend all of their grenades and Adrenaline shots as soon as enemies from first wave approach them. That leaves them very vulnerable for the second wave - the Adrenaline withdrawal means that some of them literally can only reload for their turn while even more enemies are approaching. If this is intended, then by all means please excuse me - I had no idea. But I'd like to point out that some players may not have builds that perform very well on the beach defence and/or aren't still lvled up by the time they have to go through the first defence. A simple way to (possibly) improve that could be making the STs spend 'nades only when 3(maybe 2) or more enemies are in the AoE zone and use Adrenaline shot only when a certain number of enemies are present on the map. That could very well be a bad idea, it's just that to me it seems rather bizarre that they are capable of spending 2 'nades for a single enemy and then use Adrenaline shot for another single enemy.

Both shotgun and AR can function well without being heavily invested into Per. The other weapons need more points into their governing stat to perform well.

Leather Pneumatic gloves can give you a ton of cc - those aren't a bad choice, either.

Bugs / A few typos with Harland and the explorer bot sidequest at SGS
« on: July 23, 2020, 03:24:37 pm »
There are a few typos around. When you dig through the trash and when Harland tells you that he wants to send a bot to explore. Nothing major. One of the thieves mistakes the gender of the PC - him for female character.

PS: even though the ambusher gives away his presence you still suffer Initiative nerf as though being surprised when choosing to fight. Nothing major, but just something that comes across as a bit odd.

As I'm particularly working on new levels (dungeons and random encounters) and some minor characters, all feedback in regards to those would be appreciated. Things that you don't like or find weird. Are the encounters too hard for the difficulty you are playing on, etc.

I will keep that in mind, thank you. I haven't played this game on anything else than DOMINATING for years now so I usually know what to bring, i.e., electric resistance for coil spiders, ect. The gist of that is I'm probably not the best person to give feedback on the difficulty of the game.

Anyways, glad to see the Underrail team is expanding yet again :)

Excellent outline on the new PSI mechanics!

Looks a bit like the most useful new PSI ability is "Throw a grenade" and "Lay bear traps" ;(

I've always preferred and played true psi hybrids. The best Psi skill is, indeed, ''Throw a grenade'', but only when its follow by big Pyrokinetic fireballs.

Greeting fellow denizens of Underrail.

I'm Yogimanz (Igor), newest member of Stygian Software team. For six months already, I've been working as game developer, specifically focused on creating new gameplay content. Among other things, this new content includes dungeons, random events, fragment dungeons, quests, narration and all the necessary scripting needed to tie these things together. For a long time to come, I'll be primarily focused on polishing and improving the overall experience of Underrail. All feedback on the upcoming content is more than welcome. Feel free to ask any questions.

Hello!

Glad to hear the team is expanding. I hope you enjoy yourself around here.

I will probably give Underrail another go after the latest changes - the Psi... nerfs, as they call them, look interesting.

Anyways, what sort of feedback are you looking for?

Well... I will be honest, I use Neurovisual Disruption. I like it.
But why use it when you can use mental breakdown instead?

Tool availability. I either used Mental Breakdown before and now I have an enemy I need to deal with, or I want to save Mental Breakdown for later.

Underrail seems to be works just fine through steam play (based gaben) while Des2 borked

Hahahah...

I can play Underrail on the other laptop anyways :D. I think I will have to keep trying.

Slight update. I reinstalled another copy of Windows through USB which I made on the other laptop. I installed it on the same system drive as the old Windows Installation, so it probably has used some of the old files and updates. It wasn't stable with BSODs at 5 minutes.

I then used Diagnostic Startup to uninstall the Display Adapter drivers under Device Manager and installed DirectX 11 after that. I restarted to Normal Startup and so far the installation has been stable. I disabled updates for a month and will run for a day to see what will happen. DxDiag still shows DirectX 12, though.

If you have time to spare with the usual ship-and-break-again policy, go ahead. You could bit the bullet and use Ubuntu "permanently". If it did fixed your problem, then it's probably your driver messed up somewhere

Can you play Underrail or Destiny 2 in Ubuntu :D ?

Well... I will be honest, I use Neurovisual Disruption. I like it.

Although I have to say that making it non-hostile action sounds kinda nice. Where would you use it if it were so?

And that's a HUGE problem when you limit your reloads.

Builds / Re: Spear energy pistol build, would this build be viable?
« on: December 02, 2019, 11:10:31 pm »
One thing you can do is take advantage of the Versatility feat. If you specialize in it, that would be 80 % of main combat skill to secondary combat skill.

Usually you want to mix and match weapons that benefit off from each other. Like ,for example, mixing high Dex fist melee and Energy weapons, or high Str melee and shotguns and ARs. If you use Versatility in this case both combat skills will end up higher than what you have with your build.

Not saying that you must do any of that, only that you could(...and probably should...).

Today I started it up under Ubuntu from flashdrive and it has ran for hours, plugged in and without issue.

I called MSI, as well. I wanted to try and restore through the factory image, but it wasn't working. Instead they said that because I've shipped the unit recently for inspection I am entitled to a 3 months extended warranty period for free. They have stated somewhere in their documents that they do not handle software problems, although I do not know how the issue would be classified.

Opinions?

Carnifex and Balor.

Yeah, but those guys don't have Locus of Control.
