So, speaking of expedition builds:
Am I the only one who's getting the vibe that temporal manipulation above 70 base skill is really not going anywhere? Few abilities scale with effective temporal manipulation skill, fewer still scale in a way that matters...
With thought control there is, at least, the question of beating target's resolve, so at least in theory higher effective skill is good for practically all abilities. With temporal manipulation most of best abilities are self-buffs, so they literally can't fail...

As soon as you get eletrokinetic imprint you can literally just place it in the patrol path of a robot and deal damage without even going into combat.
It's about as foolproof as it gets.

And before you can get eletrokinetic imprint you only have to fight security bots. Which deal whopping 0 damage if you have a half-decent tactical vest.

There's at least three plasma walkers before depot A, and you can run into industrial bots before getting the imprint.
And you have to fight exactly 0 of those plasma walkers before you grab the imprint. At worst you might have to juke one of them when getting the disk for Eddy.

Elecktrokinesis stuns them, sure, but unless you've got some crit stuff going on, it takes a while to kill even sentry bots with it.  I haven't played a psion far enough to comment on the other abilities.
Elecktrokinesis  deals about x3 damage when there are several targets nearby to chain. You can easily easily stun up to 3 bots during your opening turn, and finish them all next turn.

@Tamior, do you find psi as powerful as guns against robots? I sure don't. When there are several robots, it is a nightmare, and I often find that the elektrokinesis abilities do not damage them fast enough. I keep thinking to myself "I wish I were a gun build".

That said, from a role playing perspective I don't mind it. It kinda makes sense that psi is not as strong against technology as it is against living organisms.
When there are several robots, Elecktrokinesis start to actually chain, thus getting BETTER. And nothing really prevents you from using EMP 'nades as a psion if you need to.

Eh, mages are kinda weak against robots, so I never considered them as one of the strongest builds. They are a lot of fun, though.

How are they weak against robots exactly? Electrokinesis deals heavy irresistible damage at good range and automatically stuns for 1 turn, force punch ignores shields, electrokinetic imprint tears robots a new one on the spot, etc, etc.

Eh? Works just fine for keeping yourself out of harm's way in my experience. Cut a corner or just plain put some distance forcing enemies to run to your instead of attacking.

P.S. I would rank sprint as one of the best feats in the game overall. It also has amazing synergy with stealth as with it you can attack from stealth and STILL move behind cover  the same turn.

The same thing that prevents psi from only ever using a pull to FF, Premed ThermoD, Proxy + TK Punch, (cryokinesis, pyrokinesis if needed to mop up).  The same thing that prevents trap users from doing anything but traps x infinity, ambush snipe, aimed shot.  At some point cheesing the mechanics stops being rewarding and you go back to trying to have fun playing the game.
While I see your point, ThermoD combo is not even available until after depot A, and even then might fail to work as expected. And traps cost money and require you to set them up ahead on the time.
Initiative shenanigans of this type are both possible pretty much right away and, perhaps more importantly, can be used AFTER you have already bitten more than you can chew.  Thus making them a little bit more of problem.

Honour.
Pretty sure you need to take pack rathound to be able to carry enough honour with you to reliably stop that from happening.

I'll be fixing that, don't worry. You should always play last when you re-enter the area you fled during combat. That should be the drawback of it.

Can you post a link for a new builder? Can't find it(( But still, spending 5 points to make a lackluster feat to somewhat finished state is pathetic(((

The durability problem can be fixed really simple - just make disassemble work only with full durability items (and it's logical too, since if you want to get 100% part, then the item should be in 100% condition) I don't think it's gonna be so hard.

So, let's see:
At level 2 you can have:
Paranoia (+ 5 initiative)
Trigger happy (+ 7 initiative)
Gunslinger (+ 7 initiative)

With some dexterity and agility, that's easy 40+ initiative.
What exactly at this point prevents you from just taking a 10AP-or-less attack, leaving the zone, coming back, taking another 10AP-or-less attack, leaving again, etc, etc?

Seems completely foolproof and unbeatable to me. The -10 initiative penalty is still not enough to make you lose any initiative rolls. Slap another +5 from root soda if the need be. And you can get initiative even higher with specialization points.

Just to clarify: are we actually allowed to stream (or otherwise publish) what we find in the building tool before updated tool is released to public (this Friday)?
I. e. if I stream UnderRail (current experimental version) tonight or tomorrow, can I discuss the build I would be going for (once expansion hits)?

Dear Styg,
I guess content creators for Youtube/Steam/Twitch/Etc are more likely to release such content (pertaining post-expansion game meta) by 22 of July if the updated tool is released earlier this week. There is usually production delay for content, plus creators might have plans for weekend. More such content will be creating some extra publicity/advertising/hype for expansion on release day.

Latest word from Styg is I can release the updated character builder on the final weekend before the DLC release. Phew, finally! You wouldn't believe how long I've been looking forward to this.
So what exactly "on the final weekend before the DLC release" means?
19th of July? (i.e. Friday)
18th? (I.e. Thursday, when "weekend releases" happen for movies etc)
17th? Right now?  ;D
