General / Mysterious Disk connected to Shadowlith?
« on: January 13, 2020, 09:52:47 am »
A thought I had, please disprove if the logs in Abyssal suggest otherwise:

Could the Mysterious Disk (theorized lost piece of Oculus or Godman super-alloy) be identical/related to the circular saw used to cut the Shadowlith open?

It's been a while since I read the logs down there next to the ACoNR, but I remember the circular saw tool they used had a heavy amount of secrecy associated with it. Notes in the delivery suggesting it was an artifact and they didn't want anyone knowing exactly where it came from or what it was. Also it would make sense that Godman tech is able to slice evil Leviathan shit.   ???

Does Eddy in Junkyard have a monolith to cut?  :P

dialogues that made me laugh so hard (Dude, Norman, Rash, Georgis, Ladelman, Zoners, Wyatt intimidation option, and many more).

Dude's lines throughout the entire riftwalking sequence are my favorite. Before Expedition, I always wished there was more to Dude than the depressing HE laptops.

The small glimpse you get into sober Dude is sooo fkn cool, after the Juice runs our and his portrait goes from silly railrat drunkard to STOIC INTERDIMENSIONAL SCIENTIST, JOHN DYSON Ph.D.

and also, we are totally unsure of what really powers up ALL of the actual underrail part (while we know that lemco had underwater geothermal power plants).

Interesting point.. reminds me of a line of dialogue from Six saying that the Faceless' mission is "important to us all." I took that to mean their transcendence as psi users was important for the survival of humanity (since they are half-man), but maybe he means more literally, as in the infinite energy from the Cube powering South Underrail (which is a creation of Biocorp and may have been the result of an Acorn)

about the cube theory: i am pretty sure that Tanner started the war with the omega because they got the cube somehow...
Also, the DLC puts in a new "entrance" to the Omega base, exiting near to core city, where some of the former occupants from Omega could have escaped.

Nah... I think SGS demolishing Omega was just part of them establishing their territory. Abram says SGS is the most powerful South Underrail faction due to its interesting roster of leaders... After Expedition, we can infer that Ezra would know plenty about wiping out opposing factions.  ;)

Also I think the Cube was one of Biocorp's secret exotic artifacts... Similar to how the ACoNR was NFT's artifact. Perhaps it was even powering Hollow Earth before the Incident... explaining how there is still power down there after ~250 years (someone correct me if I got the timeline mixed up).

Or maybe the Faceless figured out how to use it AFTER Otis did what he did. Maybe it has a similar component to it as the Ethereal Torch? .. In that only those with Second Sight or some enhanced psi ability can activate the Cube.

We've already got art, character concepts, and design for the Grey Army, and we all know that the only thing programmers enjoy more than getting asked if they can just add a toggle is recycling assets.  My guess would be if there's another expansion it could be into North UnderRail, with the Grey Army as a primary antagonist to North UnderRail.  They're clearly militaristic and powerful enough to pose a threat - perhaps even to Dis.  As to which faction would be portrayed as "the good guys" well, I have no idea.  Even SGS and Faceless, clearly the "good guys" of the base game, were hardly blemish-free.

I should add that despite the sexy purple dots by my name, I have zero insider information about this so it's just a SWAG.

Styg said anything North Underrail is reserved for a sequel. Would still be cool to get a full campaign of Slavic humor with the Grey Army though... maybe West Underrail/Fatherland?

9 INT for Expedition completion is the most important one

an expansion inside the faceless base would be really cool. maybe thats why we dont get to see Tartarus in Deep Caverns? but Styg said it "will be a standalone campaign in which you'll play as a new character in an area that will not be connected to the main game."

so i guess it could technically still be within South Underrail, just not connected to the original player character

Put the Broken Off Spike in there

You need an item from the Nexus to upgrade the security clearance of your implant. How you deal with the plasma sentries out front is up to you.

looks cool! you got the UnderRail flicker spot on. reminds me of the motion graphics they did at the end of the Expedition trailer: https://youtu.be/3dnKxV5tpuM?t=178

This one will be a standalone campaign in which you'll play as a new character in an area that will not be connected to the main game.

Seems like a real tease if it's not North Underrail after all the Hexagon/Dis talk in Expedition

I really wanna go to Hexagon... and "ask for Six" :/

Hexagon or anything from North Underrail was always going to be a completely new game. I think I've always been clear on that. God willing we'll get to that eventually, but that's a big project that is going to require a lot of groundwork first, and we cannot just jump into it, like we can into this new expansion.

I think you're going to enjoy what we have in store for you in the expansion as well. ;)

aww okay, I see. All the writing put into Six just has me totally captivated for what happens next. But I'll play anything you guys release, for sure

i'd gladly slap a Stygian Software sticker on my rig if such a thing ever exists ;)

For all the lurkers out there here how you do it:
1) Befriend Yngwar at A10 (need to have 8 int i guess) and get right symbol
2) Talk to Ferryman about this and get information about body part of the dead man that you want to search (also Yngwar can have this information too)
3) Go to G12

At the end of each path the is 4 mechanisms. One of which contain the crank you need to get to right corpse (it have RMB context menu with "remove crank"). Get it.
After that you need to find right mechanism: refer to the symbol that you've got from Yngwar (it usually at the left side of an "ark" of mechanism). Attach crank to it, activate, and interact with the corpse.

i think its 9 INT for Rune Sketch
