General / Once I go to Deep Caverns (possible spoilers)......
« on: March 27, 2019, 03:24:33 am »
I got the impression during the Tchortists/Faceless battle that I should hop on the elevator as soon as it arrived and descend.  Now that I've been down in the Deep Caverns for a bit, I realized how little I feel I explored Upper Underrail.  Is there any way for me to return to UU (aside from loading an older save game) or am I now stuck here?

General / Tchort - Investigation or Preservation?
« on: March 21, 2019, 05:30:23 am »
I've completed all the quests from both.  While I love dominating & being hardcore all that, I'm also pretty intrigued by the science & study going on here in Tchort.  I'm thinking I'd rather join Investigation than Preservation.

If you can keep it as spoiler-free as possible, does it matter which one I join?

No problem.  Let me know if it works, and if so, how well.

Now that I see the whole message, this is all I can suggest. Note that I said suggest, not recommend. I have not used the Underrail trainer, therefore I can not say if it works, if it's a virus, or if it's a dead link. But here is what I found...

I'm at 107 hours right now (thank GOG Galaxy for keeping track of it for me).  But I'm also a completionist, I like to try to do as much as possible in a game.  I'm definitely not a speedrunner.

Underrail is a fantastic game! So much to explore and discover, and the underlying story is superb! Plus all the tactical turn based combat!

General / Cheap Shots -> Critical Power?
« on: March 17, 2019, 09:06:37 pm »
Since cheap shots gives me an extra 50% critical bonus, would critical power stack on that? Or does critical power only increase the weapon's natural critical bonus?

TIA. This game  (and the super helpful members here) is awesome. 😀

General / Re: Suppose I killed off an entire Oligarch family.....

Oh, the thought of killing as many living humans as possible by end game did occur to me already, lol. But I really want to stay true to my character concept. He's a guy who just wants to live as safe and comfortable as possible, regardless of who he needs to align with to accomplish that. He's definitely not a hero or a psychopath, but he would switch alliances if he felt it were the smart thing to do to ensure his own future.

Fort Apogee just made me a Corporal, so I've been all through their place. That's gonna be a firm "no," lol.

Well, it wasn't my original intention to off the entire family. And I did save my game before going in. But it seems it got overwritten after the fact.

On the plus side, I already finished the questline from my oligarch, and the family I whacked was not his. But killing without good reason (such as my own safety and/or significant profit) really isn't my character's style.

Seeing as I didn't get anything significant  (other than satisfying my curiosity), I'll probably go back to the older save, even if it means it'll take me an extra hour or so to catch up to where I was before my home invasion. I mean, yeah, my character kinda doesn't like the whole oligarchy setup, but if breaking it up a bit won't change anything, then I as a player feel like "why bother."

Just suppose I was continually refused entry to one of the Oligarch's houses, and I happened to be a really stealthy guy so I decided to sneak into their house just to see what all the hub-bub was about.  But then suppose one thing happened after another & before I knew it, I'd self-defensed an entire family (and their staff) to death.  What effect might that have on my gaming experience?

General / Where are the keys for this area's doors?
« on: March 01, 2019, 09:35:31 pm »
This is the little alley behind the main street in Junkyard.  I've marked all three locked doors with a big yellow star, my lockpicks don't work and it just says "impossible."  I figure they use a specific key that I need to get from someone?

I'm a stealthy fist-fighter, having just recently acquired The Claw.  I can tell you that between the bleeding and the bio damage, it was a no brainer to take the Taste For Blood feat at my next level-up.  It's making a huge difference for me, I'm demolishing opponents much quicker.

What's that line from Jesse Ventura in Predator?  Something like "if it bleeds, I can kill it."

Oh, you meant "per run" as "per game?" I misunderstood, I took it to mean "per quest," like if I'm currently quested by Coretech then JKK won't give me a quest until I finish that one.

Eh, no biggie. I already knew I'd get locked out of some quests by completing others (Eels and Scrappers, for instance).

Well, I just finished all the Coretech missions.  But I'm not getting any options for missions from the others.
