General / Re: System Tweaks to improve save time?
« on: February 22, 2019, 03:50:05 am »
Oddly, the timing on my PC is different. It always takes 30-60 seconds for the game to start, but saves and loads in just a couple of seconds.

General / Oligarchs in CC

Does it matter which one I work for?  I see I can't work for more than one at a time, but if I finish up with one, can I move on to one of the others?

If you are playing with oddity system, Foundry is just a huge loot pinata with 2-3 levels worth of oddities with little to no risk.
So I don't see a reason NOT to go and at least grab the oddities.

I am playing Oddity, so this new knowledge is a big plus for me to drop what I'm doing and head on over to Foundry!!

I've actually already become Invictus, but the Gauntlet is giving me grief.  Already helped Gorsky, too.  Now might be the most opportune time to leave CC for a while and come back.

Well, fwiw, my experience so far feels like these buggers are overpowered.

I've found them in areas where they seem to be just vastly more dangerous than other critters and humans. So far, I've avoided them altogether because I haven't really "needed" anything from their screens and I've had alternate paths I could take to get past them. And now that I've gained a good amount of levels, I'm going back to explore their areas just to make sure there's nothing of use. Even then, I'm not always able to spot them so I can attack them, so I just run away and hope I survive long enough to finish exploring.

General / Core City before or after Foundry?
« on: February 17, 2019, 11:47:38 pm »
I've been following along the quests given to me and I've found myself doing alot in CC right now, without even being told to visit Foundry yet.

But if gaming has taught me anything, it's that I should usually visit areas closer to home first and visit areas further away later. And the metro has Foundry listed as a travel option right between Rail Crossing  (which I've already completed) and CC (where I'm at now).

Should I head over to Foundry on my own, or will someone eventually tell me to go there?

General / Character motivations
« on: February 09, 2019, 07:56:38 pm »
Let me ask you all a question.  When you play rpgs, do you have a "go to" character in mind as far as their motivations?  Number crunching for a combat-effective build is one thing, but do you try to go through the whole game with a particular code of ethics for your character?

Sometimes I play through as the tried & true hero type, making all the "good" decisions I can.

Other times, I play....not evil, but a very personally motivated PC.  He kills the baddies, but also has no qualms about killing or stealing from innocents if he thinks they have something that can benefit him AND if he can keep it hidden (because having an entire town go agro on me is not fun).

Then there's the guy I'm playing right now in UR.  He's not so much about good vs evil as he is his own survival so he can lead as comfortable of a life as he can in an otherwise brutal world.

So yeah, those are my 3 usual character concepts.  How about you?

General / Re: Eviscerate and Cut-Throat any good?
« on: February 09, 2019, 07:39:57 pm »
I'm playing an unarmed stealth guy, but I do like Cut-Throat.  I'm at Level 12 right now, and so far, I'm always sneaking successfully & getting a 95% chance to hit each time I use it.  My movement is already high enough that I can slash & run as soon as combat starts (if the first slash doesn't kill him).  More often than not, I'm using it against what I think are solo enemies, but then they turn out to have one or more hidden friends waiting to jump me, so if I can take out the first guy with one quick slash, I'm a happy killer.

The only downside I've found is that since you must be directly behind the opponent to even attempt it, I've already come up against a couple of foes (including [suspicious]Rathound King[/suspicious], for instance) who don't wander around & are always standing with their back against an object.

I just went around the entire perimeter of the cave, didn't find it.  Is my Perception just too low?  Do I need an NPC or a clue from the game to be able to find it?

Weird coincidence.  I just found that same mark while playing yesterday!

General / Maximum recommended skills?

I've got my (adjusted) lockpicking and hacking skills up around 100.  Is there a need to keep raising them?  What about other skills?

I just happened across the body, but I can't seem to find a way to get to it.  Any suggestions?

lol what is it he needs again, 30 brews?

just imagine what would go down if Dude ran out of brews

20 mushroom brews, yeah. This is my first play through, and he's so whacked out on a regular basis, I'm kinda waiting to find his body later in the game, dead from an overdose.

Ah, yeah....found the rest in my locker back at my private quarters.  I'm such a hoarder.  But what can I say?  I was raised on Sierra adventure games, where you could fit a minivan in your pocket.

Well, I found 1/2 of them on one of the locals, so obviously I bartered and sold some of them.  Is there anyplace specific where I could find more?
