Builds / Is Psi Empathy worth it on a melee Machete person?
« on: August 19, 2019, 08:53:07 pm »
As topic states-is it worth taking on a melee character with good trap skill? If so-around when would it be worth the 25% Health loss?

General / Re: Riot Gear Vs Metal Armor confusion

The metal armor will keep you alive longer versus bullets, since while the two armors will have similar damage threshold, the metal armor will have higher damage resistance to protect against aimed shots. The metal armor will also protect better against energy weapons and grenades due to providing energy (and possibly heat) resistance.

The riot gear will keep you alive longer versus melee attacks as it has similar damage resistance and threshold against mechanical melee damage compared to the metal armor, but, also has a chance to block melee damage.

Based on the stats you posted, I assume you are early in your playthrough, so the metal armor may have significantly higher armor penalty than the riot gear. If you rely heavily on mobility or stealth, and aren't regularly dying to bullets, I would recommend the riot gear. But it all depends on your build and where you are at in the game.
Thanks-I took Armor Sloping to start so not quite as bad for Steel Plates if crafted. Not sure how much I am relying on Mobility-Machete Build from Nerd Commando I'm trying and yes just like level 6-7

General / Riot Gear Vs Metal Armor confusion
« on: August 19, 2019, 02:32:10 am »
Hello,
Playing melee sword user and don't understand if Metal Armor with 35/14 Mechanical resistance (and I'll add some spikes for melee damage) is better than Riot Gear with 17/7 % but 100% damage threshold and damage resistance, 128 % increase in damage threshold against bullets, and 35% chance to block up to 23% mechanical melee damage

Confused

General / Re: Do I need Psi Empathy to train in Temporal Manipulation?

Thanks-I see that in  the Patch notes for 1.1.0.13. Funny thing is I have .12 version and it is fixed also. Not updated yet on Steam I guess. So I'm wondering when I should take the pill with my melee swordsman....

General / Do I need Psi Empathy to train in Temporal Manipulation?

I saw a Nerd Commando build where he didn't take Psi Empathy but was bumping the Temporal Manipulation skill-how is this possible?

Much thanks for the explanations! I wanna try to use them in a note pad I'm using-currently it looks pretty messy with all the cross outs etc LOL joking. The Steam posting probably gets a lot of looks -it's where I started before I found the forums.

Was reading your detailed guide on steam and had a question
you say:
1. "Throwing - 0 : You do not need any points in throwing, anyway your utility stot will be occupied with special bolts. Sometimes, maybe, you will use an EMP grenade that's it. And with Surestep, you can throw caltrops at your feet, so you won't need it either."

However the build shows 55 (73) points into it (more than guns) and you use a lot of grenades no?

2."Tailoring - 0 : The two best armors for this build are the CAU armor and it's cooked shot bonus and overall good defenses and the Rathound king armor and it's speed bonus perfect for kiting. No reason to put any point in tailoring. Just look for good tabi boots at merchants."

Your build shows 90 (125) in tailoring-that's a lot more than 0

3. "You won't use psi, at least early and mid game. Maybe, you can put 40 points in Psychokinesis to get Premeditation and have Force Field and Electrokinesis to help you. I'm sure it's a valid option once you get a decent enough energy shield so that the loss of HP won't bother you."

In Build you take you take Psycho and Temporal-isn't taking Psi Empathy knocking down you health pool?

Thanks for your help-perhaps you could update the Steam post to your newest build ideas? I appreciate your efforts and am anxious to give this one a try!

Suppressive Fire is still an awesome way to set up enemies to take advantage of Opportunist.  It's not the only way to get that Opportunist benefit, but as AR you're going to be bursting a lot anyway - so why not make it even easier for you to get more bonus damage?  The SF debuff also is pretty nice - it lets you worry a bit less about ranged enemies so you can focus on anyone getting too close, and the AP debuff may mean enemies get fewer attacks than they otherwise would.

Get both Opportunist and Suppressive Fire if you can fit them in your build.  They go well together, and are highly reliable.

Thanks very much!

Hi-just starting out with Expedition and really enjoying it (I had this game for a long time and decided to fire it up after Expedition came out)-man I really miss this type of game done well!
I am using a beginner friendly build from Destroyer I got from his Steam FAQ. You can see it here:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/250520/discussions/0/350543389011336163/#c350543389012268685

I had asked him a question specifically about taking the Suppressive Fire feat at level 4-it basically slows AP for enemies and boost your range skill, but a burst build likes to be as close as possible-it seemed like they were sort of opposing views. He was kind enough to reply that it is a bit outdated with Expedition and that I should ask on these forums as RL is keeping him away.

Specifically  "the build as is right now is slightly outdated due to the numerous new expedition options and various nerfs from patches (especially how smart module no longer apply to burst). If you have expedition, it'll probably be better to ask on the official forum and see if someone else can comment on a more updated Tin Can build"

Any and all help is appreciated-I realize this is probably a real "baby" build for you Dominators, but any comments are appreciated! (I don't even know what a smart module is).

Builds / Which Build is updated?
« on: August 07, 2019, 04:46:30 pm »
Hi-I see 2 builds listed one has a 2016 date but says updated for Expedition and another from December 2017-which one are you using? Did you adjust from Destroyers comment and in your "a few things I forgot to mention " post that build is that pertaining to I'm trying to go through the thread and got confused as to what comment was for which build listing. Thanks-3 pages of thread I got thoroughly confused sorry
