Builds / Re: First Time Player Help(Shotgun/Firearm Pistols)
« on: March 08, 2021, 01:16:43 am »
Thank you very much guys. I'll be using your first build Niko, instead of crafting I've gone with Hacking and Lock picking since I'm using Oddity exp for my first play through. Wish me luck!

Hopefully you read this before it's going too late.
Remove premed(not worth for TM only), Ambush(doesn't work with shotgun and Electroshock pistol), and Strafe (Shotgun has no move penalty, and it's bad practice for sniper)
Instead, swap them with Fragmented Chaos (the only way to increase crit bonus above 100% for crit power), Snipe (one-shot wonder for first turn, can be abused with stun grenade / flashbang), and Sharpshooter (even more damage for sniper rifle).
This means, you could - 2 AGI, and put it on either +2 DEX (could swap pack rathound with Grenadier / Quick Tinkering, both are extremely strong feat, I would recommend to use infinite weight + speedhack to make the game MUCH better, trust me on that) or +2 INT for much better crafting allocation. Don't skip on crafting, you'll REALLY need it. Many weapon desperately required self-crafted weapon simply because some "extension / mods" never dropped from random enemies, and available frames are often much better than unique guns.

People do be like that sometimes. There's always a fan and hater.

General / Reduce visual effect / reducing lag?
« on: March 08, 2021, 12:56:40 am »
Is there a way to reduce VFX in underrail? I'm not sure if it has something to do with the new VFX, but area where there's lots of gas and grasses (area around expeditions) are extremely laggy. Like, usual 60fps turned into 5 fps kinda lag.
Thankfully, it's rarely happens, but when it does, it basically makes my character into turn-based mode. Any solution (other than buying new PC)?

Bugs / Re: Crash report

Most of zone transition error is usually due to not enough RAM afaik. It's usually fixed by restarting your game and free-up your ram a bit (closing discord, browser, etc).

I noticed that Abandoned Waterway Warehouse often gets error'd too because there's too many clutter.

Bugs / Hypertoxicity doesn't work with caltrops sometimes
« on: March 07, 2021, 09:53:32 am »
I'm not sure if its a bug, but currently, it doesn't apply the feat correctly.
if you throw Poison Throwing Knife regardless of type, it'll refresh any poison currently applied to the enemies with Hypertoxicity, making it very hard VS very high DT/DR enemies.

Bugs / Re: Acid and Fatal Throw
« on: March 07, 2021, 09:50:39 am »
I'm not sure if it even applied on the 100% part, but if it does, then its probably a bug.
afaik it doesn't restore AP nor doesn't work with ripper, because it only applied on Throwing Knife and Shuriken. Maybe Throw Acid Phial works with Three-Pinter instead of Fatal Throw?

Builds / Re: First time, Shotgun - Psi non stealh
« on: March 06, 2021, 03:15:00 am »
You don't have to use metal armor for Juggernaut BTW, as long as you have 50+ unmodified body armor penalty. Tac vest, riot gear, hell even Leather Armor is possible to go above 50%. Do remember that you HAVE to be ABOVE 50%. Exactly 50% won't give you the bonus. Nimble and Body Training thingy applied after the penalty, so it's still compatible with Juggernaut. Armor slopping doesn't, tho.

Tbh you should plan your build up to level 30 so you could see if there's any sus bump. The important factor is up to level 10, because that's the usual level you got pre-Depot A

IMO premed no longer a must-have feat for non-pure psi build, since most weapons requires more feats to get it going. Premed have biggest impact on PK due to high AP cost in most of its skills

General / Re: where the hell is throwing gloves?
« on: March 05, 2021, 05:32:31 am »
Found one on Blaine's normal stock just today on a new run. It is actually really hard to notice because it looks almost exactly like any leather combat gloves. I also have a question about Shuriken fixed locations, are there any?
I found Shuriken BP on Free Drones, Coretech, Oculus, and Expedition shop. its fairly common on high-level electronics store

I see. So what would you suggest as a secondary weapon for shotgun? Or should I use shotgun and Psi? Thanks for pointing out the shortcomings with the firearms.
I reckon that going shotgun with TM only is good for support skill. Shotgun is very solid weapon. I'd recommend going for Burst build with Leading Shot. And makes sure you experiment with multiple ammo types (20p,12p,6p,3p) and see which enemies are more efficient with which bullet.

Basically just savescum and shot the enemy, see the bullet damage, and check which ones have better average damage for that type of enemies. If you don't care about optimization and only play on Hard or below, 6p for general use, 20p for rathound and dogs. Hoard 3p for expedition, you'll need them.

Builds / Re: Dominating crit psi question
« on: March 05, 2021, 04:41:37 am »
Basically yeah. Meta+psycho is very strong, because metathermics could handle lots of organics and have cheaper psi and AP cost. The downside of meta is it's shit against heavy armor and robots, that's where psycho came in.
Other strong alternatives is TC, because you could join JKK and get hypno goggle for additional CC, straight up do AoE Mental Breakdown, and it also bypass organics armor. But imo, it's better for Tranquility because its possible to do 3x NO without adrenaline. And the damage is great enough after you get that somirbaeren staff thingy.

1. I have a good experience with decapitate since its basically filler power attack when your flurry is down. It's also helps against metal armor dudes. Not 1-shot situation, Ofc. But it could if decap crit.
2. It's actually worth it for additional layer of RNG. 35% isn't that bad in practice. I find that high melee resistance is harder to get for light armored build, since even dual low energy emitter shield still sucks against some knifer / stalkers, while evasion are good enough investment since it protects against ranged and explosive. Dual high shield emitter is also enough to handle AR and below, and able to protect you from off-screen sniper, if not completely evade it
3. This one doesn't really matter much. Higher INT does removed few skill points, which can be used to other things, but the "other things" are very optional imo. Persuasion, trap, pickpocketing, stealth. Bit more agi boost makes your evasion a little bit higher and you could helps bypass some agi check on certain places without going full meta.
4. This is build decision. Balaclava are easy to craft and you'll want rathound regalia for swag and +1 str, it also have good stealth amount. Going all-in just for tabi is huge waste of skill points, which usually means you have mediocre evasion, which ain't even worth to have thanks to weird mechanics that Styg felt still fair to the player. And in a way, max STR sword doesn't really need crit chance, because the base damage itself is already huge. Max DEX sword would want all the crit chance they could have, tho, since high DEX means higher crit chance it's possible to get 95% chance or something that ridiculous.

I honestly don't want to test DOM myself. It's a chore and not fun for me

First of all, I'm fairly sure this wont be viable for DOMINATING, since its been awhile since I played sword build, and its somewhat rare to find around on its mechanic. And I hate dominating. But I'm sure it should be smooth sailing for Hard and below.
Build explanation:
  • It has 0 Tailoring because I want to use Rathound Regalia and switch over to Phantom Dancer FAR away in the future. You can't craft very good tabi, but it's nothing to worry about. Blaine, Free Drones, and JKK guys sold very good Stealth Tabi and Balaclava, so at least there's that. Selling leather armor will be very annoying tho, since you can't recycle them. But you could just not be Al-Fabet. Also, would recommend maxing chemistry first. Frag Grenade MKIII could one-shot almost all the mutated dog, practically cheesing the entire Depot A. MKIV could potentially one-shot the Mutants. Maxing dodge early on is also good.
  • There's 40 free skill points, basically your last level thing. You can dump it on Dodge for more Uncanny Dodge trigger. Or you could put it on Trap and swap Grenadier with Quick Tinkering.
  • Stealth is our "dump" skill. You can reduce it how many you like as long it has ~100 effectiveness. Tabi, balaclava, and Rathound Regalia is enough to stealth through most encounter. and if its not enough, you can always craft Cloaking Device.

Gears:
  • Balaclava
  • Random leather armor (could buy Mutated Dog armor from Blaine if lucky) / Rathound Regalia post-Depot A / Phantom Dancer post-Expedition
  • Ninja Tabi Boots
  • TiChrome Straight Machete | Tungsten Curved Machete with Energy Edge / Red Dragon post-expedition
  • Medium+High Shield Emitter
  • Doctor Pouch / Utility Belt

You'll want to use TiChrome Straight Machette for tighter damage spread and 5-hit per turn on Adrenaline without Flurry. In some scenario, attacking without flurry is better for less RNG involved. You'll learn that 95% works 50% of the time after few hours playing with sword. Max STR sword build will have less crit chance, so Tungsten is only used mainly for fighting robot / tin cans and hope for the best. It's also fairly expensive to repair electronic-based weaponry.

Now for some question that I can't find the answer :
  • Does Fancy Footwork works with Flurry per hit, or only per "attack" command?
  • How do you get Monstrous Yell and Tattoo : Drifter?

I love throwing build, but this concept makes Crossbow lose its edge over extremely versatile elemental bolt.

Escape Artist is already there, tho. giving pure immunity is pretty insane
