While I agree Snooping isn't really a good feat I don't think it's the most worthless feat in the game when we have:

Perfect Scattering <- the most worthless feat in the game
Ninja Looter <- you don't need it for more loot, just pump pickpocketing skill
Burglar <- just pump stealth skill/gear instead of wasting a feat slot
Tempered: Heat <- CON 12 requirement is just too high
Tempered: Acid <- see above
Tempered: Cold <- see above
Tempered: Electricity <- see above

Tempered Electricity kinda good since it reduced NO, which usually the bane of tanky build.

Also for OP, perception secrets are usually kinda okay for oddities playthrough, it adds exp early on, making the game a bit easier before Depot A. And you could just skip stuff if you're on Oddities run.

I still have a shudder on how annoying it's gonna be fighting bunch of Expedition enemies, since handful of them have big resistance on heat damage
Mono school are surprisingly unbalanced.
Only PK able to deal with any type of enemies, but it struggles with AoE, and ElectroK able to 1-shot you

Builds / Re: Headwear for melee?
« on: January 25, 2021, 02:06:16 am »
Balaclava, the detection goggles, and shaded metal helmet is all good choice for melee. Balaclava is obviously the most neutral for melee, because you need that alpha strike.
Detection goggles is useful for some cases, but mostly for detecting traps (you usually won't have enough to detect Stalkers). Shaded metal helmet is useful if you're playing knife or close-quarter pistol build, since you could throw flashbang under your feet, immune from its effect, and starts Execute / Cutthroat your enemies.
Might be a cool idea for John Wick character tbh.

Builds / Re: Batman Build !
« on: January 25, 2021, 02:01:59 am »
Just want to comment Batman usually fight bare hand, use a lot of gadgets, intimidate and psyche/out think his opponents. If you really want to role play as rich boy in Underrail, the obvious route would be a bare fist build, use lots of combat utilities (throwing knives as batarang, flashbang, chemhaze nades, etc), obviously takes Intimidation skills (and Yell) + maybe TC: CC only - frighten, enrage, mental breakdown, Neurovisual Disruption) but not using any direct damage abilities (NO, bilocation, Psi-cognitive Interruption) as a "regular" peak human w/o super power is his thing.
I laughed at the thought of batman using Yell and the enemies just frantically run away, because he's often depicted as kinda quiet character who emerged from darkness.

Builds / Re: Trapper build?
« on: January 25, 2021, 02:00:13 am »
Tbh trap is almost the game-beating skill.
The problem is, some enemies are immobile or immune to trap, so it becomes problematic.
Your alternative is either go with crossbow + bear trapper, or going all-in with meme build, trap + throwing.
The problem is, 2nd build is very tricky for new player. So crossbow build is the good stuff if you want to play as trapper, since you still have very deadly crossbow after someone got trapped, but it's weak enough that you can't mindlessly mow down enemies with it.

Builds / Re: Force Emission upgrades ?
« on: January 25, 2021, 01:56:36 am »
Since Force Emission can't crit, it won't affect it. But, muffled and other psi cost reduction works with it.
For Faceless, I guess your best bet is TK Proxy + TK Punch. It's the highest burst damage for PK school. Could add electrokinesis if there's 2 enemies nearby.

I want a new laser gun. Where are they sold?
Most electronics shop sold them.
Some lurker also used it.

Builds / Re: Viable spear throw build?
« on: January 25, 2021, 01:50:46 am »
Full dex is the go to.
Just think of it as any throwing build with three pointer.
You can use Spear Throw as a silent way to take down enemies. Think of it like your sniper rifle with 2 ammo per turn. It should be able to kill most stuff in 1 throw quite reliably compared to throwing knife.
The other utility is, you could pick Fend as free temporary shield. It doesn't scale with anything but your current spear stats, so you could even go with 0 melee stats.
Although, I'm not sure if throwing spear damage will be good enough without melee stats.
Spear and Sword build is always kinda awkward because you need to balanced it out between STR and DEX instead of going all-in like most weapon out there.

I dont think with that stats its even viable.
trust me, the game is harsh enough with actual proper combat-oriented build, dont try for meme build on your first run. you'll rage quit really hard.

as for trapper build, you could splash in Crossbow to get Hunter-themed character. you could search on this forum for Crossbow build, there's really good thread all around.

In case OP still lurking, don't play oddities on first playthrough. It requires some serious meta knowledge to know where to get them. And without that knowledge, you'll underleveled on most place. Especially so on Depot A, where it seems like you need a lot of things at once

He did say that he's gonna make next patch to be the last big stuff, so I guess he just making sure everything works before focusing all the workload on the next game

For that vent in particular, there's mine near the entrance door. You could put few bear trap, initiate combat, open door to agrro them, and run outside the door.
After 1 or 2 turn, they should be grouped near the mine. Throw grenade and they all should die, leaving few people who's a bit too far away

If you do want to play with pistol and melee, you could put PER and Guns skill as much as your feat needs, and max Dex with Melee, then pick Versatility.
Melee scales with Dex, and dex reduced pistol AP cost.
Keep in mind that firearms (normal pistols), chemical pistol, and energy pistol might not share the same feats. Although its very clearly stated on each perk it has.
You can finish Depot A with 0 tailoring, stealth, and lockpicking/hacking, but investing on them is usually better for newbie.

Also, you don't need to put Trap skills to detect them. You could use motion-tracking goggles to increase your Detection skills. PER also increased it btw.

You could finish Depot A with a simple abuse :
MK II Grenade.
Throw em, it usually kills mutant dog in 1 hit.
You could stock up through scrapper merchant and Blaine.
Another tips I have is to plan your build on https://underrail.info/build

There are few key tips to plan a character
1. Decide between melee, guns, crossbow, or Psi
2. Plan your feat first
3. Adjust your base stats according to feat you take
4. Put all base stats you don't need to 3, never have 4 on your base stats. No exception.
5. Max base stats you used for your main attack (STR for heavy melee, Dex for light melee and pistols, Crossbow for Crossbow (duh), Will for Psi)
6. Max skill points for your main attack of choice (recommended to only put 1 of the attack skills, for pure psi, 3 school max is recommended)
7. Open this guide and plan your crafting, throwing, and Social skills (persuasion, Intimidation, mercantile. It's very optional, but you need it to get more story fluff) to reach top threshold. Keep in mind that having too much of those skills means a waste of skill points. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=843557165
8. Disable "save during transition" on option, manually quicksave a lot. Before combat, after combat, before talking to NPC, etc.

Optional : Google "underrail speedhack and unlimited weight". Trust me, it makes the game MUCH BETTER.

General / Post-nerf sniper rifle

Does sniper-only build dead?
There's no longer possible way to reliably shot twice per turn without TM or Adrenaline. Even then, its only 2-3 hit max. It seems that lower caliber has the same shot/turn compared to mid-tier caliber.
Is it now simply just a snipe / aimed shot opener that requires secondary weapon?
