Glad I could help 😆

Advice : Always Carry Ammo and repaid kit for weapon (My SMG broke apart before the boss)
A Golden advice for Deep Caverns. Pack you bags full before going there. I would probably replace something(Tranquility?) with Pack Rathound for that reason 😆🤣

Builds / Re: Spear Build on Dominating
« on: August 11, 2021, 08:26:15 am »
This is a bit Necro 😆, but..:

1st thing - on Dominating, for Greater Coil Spiders you will need 150+ Stealth to not be instantly detected. Defenitely not 117.
2nd - Tranquility on Tank Build??? 😅😅

I have a question - what is the advantage of going Riot Gear + Shield, vs. Armor Sloped Supersteel (reinforce as you see fit) or High Quality Infused Bison?
You didn't take Shield Arm, which almost doubles the default block chance.
3CON Melee Tank builds... at 3CON even with Sturdy Vest (at 70% effectiveness on Riot Gear) I would look to GTFO out of sight/range, rather than stand and tank.

How much COMBINED block you think you will have, when higher level Knife users Crippling Strike can crit you for 300 (without opportunist) and Hammerers regular hits are in that range. And natives are even worse... Remember - 35% Riot Shield Block (psi beetle carapache at Q95) of 48-50(dunno exactly) + Boarding Up up to 100(?) on Max Stacks, Spear 100% (45?), Cryo-Shield 50% (55 damage blocked at 200 Metathermics). So if they all proc, it is 150(200) blocked. A lot-for sure. But they will rarely work together (17.5% chance, please correct me if I am wrong). Cryo-Shield only has 5 uses, so single knife attacker could strip it in one turn.
And if you are Stunned or Incapped, you will block nothing. So Bullhead ASAP. 😅

While Armor Sloped Supersteel (even reinforced once) + Nimble will give you 14%(24% reinforced once) armor penalty and 60%> Phys Damage Resist | 55% Energy Resist |14 Fire DT to walk on fire fields. Will also leave you very mobile and defense always active vs Everything + Spear block at 100% of 45(?) and Cryo-Shield (not worth it IMO). 😁
As when compared to 27% AP and 25% max damage resist and 35% CHance Blocks only vs Melee... and 2 Feats vs 3 Feats.

Or even consider Infused Bison Leather Armor with 45% Phys Damage resist, Chill Immunity + Insulated Padding for Freeze Immunity and Black Cloth for sneaky bonuses + Nimble for a total of 9% Armor Penalty for just 1 Feat Invested. 😄

Imho, you should -2 DEX, -2 INT + 4CON to 7, pick Juggernaut and Nimble. Go Mobile Steelcan spear to tank "when needed".
OR go Infused Leather/Tac Vest + Nimble as a mobile, stealthy melee.
Thats for Dominating.

It is all opinions and calculations of course 😄 Otherwise, Induction + Spear throw is super strong as shown by KnifeGaf 😁

Ok, so I lowered tm to 70, and got 6 dex for grenadier.
Got around 150 spare skill points from tm and overleveled lockpicking/throwing, and put them to pickpocket/traps and some crafting for those 170+ frames (SGS tatto/underpie and +2int drug)
I don't know if ambush is good, seems like there would be small amount of opportunities to use it, and it would only take like one move for them to make it invalid again.
I think if there are any very evasive enemies then flashbang+throwing net would take care of them, unless there are big groups of dudes like that, then I dont have idea what to do besides skipping them with stealth.

Is quick tinkering worth 1 point in dex? Also, power managment or trigger happy?
Ambush is one of the most powerful Feats in the game. With 140 Stealth you get 62% Crit Chance just from it and -50% Evasion. Almost whole game, except for a few areas that you can count on your fingers, allows for Ambush - Use Molotovs, Flares and stand in darker square = profit.
Watch this video of mine - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52uIH_xexoU?t=49m43s , as I wipe 3 enemies and leave 2 almost dead in just 2 Bursts thanks to Ambush. Then watch the rest of the video and see what damage Shotguns deal compared to that (and for Shotgun, most enemies were contaminated with 30-100% increased damage). No man, Ambush is OP. If I had Concentraded Fire on this build, there would have been nothing left alive.

I finished up most of the foundry quest line and is trying to rescue hugo. However since the build has no intimation or persusion I'm struggling with the bandits. They basically kill me in 1 round of combat. Currently lvl 11 but every bandit like around Foundry just instant kill me. Any suggestions? (I want to help the faceless so I can rescue the guy at the crossing)
Kill the first lone guard out of Stealth as they are not-hostile immediately, then as you should have Fancy Footwork, get behind the corner. When they close in and group up, throw a Flash Bang, then mop up the rest. Also, you have 9CON (or should have if its this build). Pop Morphine if you are out in the open and switch on your shield.

Thanks! A lot of resetting hahaha. I did go lvl up coz I was like lvl 6 and made some armor to help a lot. So not sure if I'm using the build correctly. Do I build up hits with normal punches then heavy punch on the Pneumatic trigger? I also didn't realize I had heavy punch until I got to depot and had to deal with the sentries lol.

One thing would be nice if you could add to the build guide is like what skills to focus on? Like always keep certain skills maxed or other skills can be obtained later because I felt like i didn't realize I needed some skills until it was too late and had to grind a lvl or so. Maybe some general direction on what main ones to keep up and what can be obtained in the later levels would help a lot!

Off to the rest of the game XD
Yes, use Heavy Strike on Pneumatic trigger or when you need to get through heavy DT better.
Craft your own Tac Vest if the one you found is rubbish 😄 pick up any Laminated Panel of quality 40+, any Carrier Vest and Black Cloth. You will have enough DT to ignore Sentry Bots. Blueprint sold in SGS armory.
Also, Kevlar Balaclava is +6DT vs bullets and doesn't care about quality.

Oh, what skill to pick and when mostly comes with experience. But the basics are - 45 Mercantile for when you have done Silent Isle for Eels in Junkyard, to get top inventory from Blaine. He sells Tabi Blueprint and up to Quality110 components and items before Depot A
- Always Max your combat skill. In this case, Melee.
- 40 (only spent points count) Dodge ASAP for Fancy-Footwork and Escape Artist.
- 60 Hacking for turrets in Depot A
- 55-60 (efective) lockpick for Protectorate Prison and Depot A (+7 from Jack Knife from GMS)
- Pickpocket at 55-70 (effective) for all of Junkyard and SGS (money, Adrenaline and ammo to sell for money) and most of everywhere else. After Depot A get 80-90 for all the loots.
- Leave Biology at 0 until after Depot A if you have to. Then to 50 for Focus Stims. Keep animal parts around somewhere for that.
- For this build focus on Tailoring, Electronics and Mechanics, but ideally when you have the part and you know how much you need. Use Under-Pie for +3 to crafting skills if needed.

I got the shield but the vest was not as good as it showed in the video. Mine was only 3 instead of 6 like shown in the video. I wonder if that's rng.

Edit: Also how do I get stronger gloves? Mine does 7-12 and just feel very lacking? I cleared depot A mostly from just throwing molotivs XD
It is all rng, like all the loot in this game, bar uniques 😄
Yeah. Grab some higher level leather like the one from Mutated Dogs or Siphoners in the pools West(screen north) of Junkyard. You can find Q60+ leather from those.

Congrats on Depot A, espially for first timer 😁

General / Re: Is it possible to force all random locations to spawn?

Just play the legacy 1.1.1.6 version which has no random locations beyond early game and has both easier and wider array of available psionics for use at any time as a bonus.
This! If spoilt for choice, remove the choice 😆🤣 But the full Cave Wizzard™ experience is what entices me the most 😁

- 1 Will (no reason to invest)
- 2 Perception (AR's are fine with lower accuracy as it allows to hit more enemies in groups)
+ 3 Dexterity for Grenadier (in place of Power Management)
Get Ambush instead of Gun Nut (can lower Int to 6) as it will allow a 100% crit chance on illuminated enemies with enough Stealth. Also -50% Evasion, which is very good.
Otherwise yeah, easymode whole game.
Lower Chemistry to 69, to make MKIV and use the points for Pickpocket or something.

For guns, best recommendations are:
7.62mm Rapid Muzzled Hornet
8.6 or 9mm Anatomically Aware Muzzled Chimera for high crits on Commando Procs. (I prefer 8.6, as I might use it to burst Illuminated Targets for more kills than Hornet could, and it is cheaper AP wise and damage is almost identical to 9mm).

Also what should I add plate or spikes?
a) Never Spike this early 😆. Damage is separate and subject to Threshhold, so pretty much useless. b) I always used plate, until I got Taste for Blood. But now I am thinking, if I can proc bleeding on a Heavy Strike Combo or more importantly Pneumatic Strike, enemy can bleed out in Incapacitation if they survive. I would suggest - make a save before you create the gauntlet, and test it for yourself, see what you like 😄 c) Experiment with Spikes later on when damage ramps up.
Quote
Also any advice on dealing with robots early on because I do no damage to them.
I imagine you are speaking of Sentry Bots:
- Try using only Heavy Strikes on them to overcome Damage Threshold.
- At level 6 you should pick up Expose Weakness and have no problems after that.
- And with Pneumatic Combat Glove you will have high damage hits to overcome their threshold.
- Get or make an Electroshock Glove/Knife and after taser they should die in 2nd round easily.
- Get a Laminated Tactical Vest so they deal no damage to you 😁. You can get a free one and a shield in Junkyard, and here is a vid how: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCk0--8Vpgc
As you won't have instant traps, simply use more Burrower and Regular Caltrops around the exit and few more pulls 😄 You can buy Burrower Caltrops from hunter trader and doctor in Junkyard.

Definetily not. Shotgun problem is minimum damage rolls, not maximum. Same for .44 Pistol 😄 You could say that you increase the range by 15%, but you will still get low rolls. Anyways - after a certain point, you will be blasting with enough crits to simply not care.
I completely disagree. Both shotguns and .44 roll damage many times per round, so total damage eventually gets evenly distributed. Even if that wasn't the case, having higher upper damage drastically increase the chance the bullet/pellet will do its job.

Now, is it worth it in this build? Probably not, per gives accuracy, damage and doesn't waste a feat, while int gives higher damage and more skill points. Would go for int if I was skill starved.
An interesting point to disagree on 😆 Yes, you will Average it out, but fact remains - Minimum damage doesn't change. There are Feats that up the damage wholesale, and that will up Minimum too, so you will be more consistent. This is a Feat and requires 7INT which can be spent better in many places. Especially as end-game gear can be crafter with Hypercerebrix(+2INT) and home crafting bonuses. Fact is - I rarely if ever see any build take it for the reasons I mentioned.

INT doesn't give higher damage, unless you are playing Energy Pistols with High-Technicalities 😄 Weapon skill does.

What weapon should I use until I make a combat glove with pneumatic hammer (and by like what level would I be able to do this?) Also there a guide on crafting I can read up because I have no idea how to even make it hahaha. Should I just use any melee weapon until I make the glove? (like  pick a melee weapon when getting my weapon back from the armory?) Thanks for answering!
- Combat Knife or Dagger would be the best (as they are light weapons that get AP cost lowered by DEX) until level 4, then you will pick up Lightning Punches.Or earlier if you make yourself Pneumatic Combat Gloves 😁
- On Normal and Hard, I would say pick up a 5mm pistol from the Armory and sell it together with ammo, then buy a good knife from same Armory trader. You will get some extra cash that way.
- You can make a Pneumatic Combat glove as soon as you have high enough:

  • Animal Leather (highest leather you can find, probably Rathound at this point) and Tailoring skill high enough for it
  • Pneumatic Hammer part - look through all the traders, but mainly Harold (in Engineering) and will need Mechanics skill
  • Combat Glove recipe from Big Bret in Agronomy
  • Plasma Core (together with Electronics skill) you can get from Ezra in Cyber Labs
For reference, if I get lucky enough, I can make it before doing Rescue Newton quest. And if you go to Junkyard before doing it - more so.

How does this build feel in the early game? Also now is it new player friendly? Would I be able to run this on my first run or would it require more knowledge of the game to play it smoothly? Also any advice on this build starting out like things to get or look out for? Thanks for the help and looks very interesting! Idea of just punching someone to death sounds cool XD
I wouldn't recommend using Survival Instincts to a new player, just because it leaves you super vurnelable if you don't know the encounter and is difficult to maintain. But in this build, you don't have to use it at all, unless you are comfy 😁 Actually running around with 9CON is great for a new player to get familiar with the game.
Start is easy, thanks to the fact that this is a Stealthy Dexterity build - you will get to start fights on your own terms, and take out 1-2 enemies on first turn. And when you make your first Combat Glove with Pneumatic Hammer, you will never want to go back 😄
Also, play on Normal for the first time 😉 get your feet wet 😄

A Crossbow trapper:

Move some feats around to your liking. Play with poisons if you like.

- Focus is on getting highest Elemental Bolts Crits.
- Versatility for some Amplified Laser Pistol action or Chem Pistol or something else, vs high armor or where you cant Acid Bolt/Shock Bolt crit (beast fight).

Left a ton of Skill Points and a free Feat slot to play around with. But I've played this build in the past and it is really strong. You can find a Bolt Quiver at Blaine's, Old Jonas' (after Depot A, when he's in Cantina) and other trader inventories randomly or just in a random box.
Before Deadly Snares, most reliable way to kill is with Ambush crits, so position yourself in dark corners and throw Flares or Molotovs. Once you get Elemental Bolts and Crit Power you will 1 shot most enemies. As for Arena, it has a ton of dark corners, but in reality you just have to step back 2-3 tiles from starting position and you already can Ambush enemies 😁

Ok I came up with this:
v4: https://underrail.info/build/?HgQFCgMQAwXCoEwAAAAAUExfAAB3wpRTX2gAAADCoAAAVBk5wrAewpYmR8KYSyvCh8KIMcKFYcK1wqbCpOKxoAXis6wF4rewBd-_
Can someone tell me if gun nut is worth losing 2 per points? cause vindicator already has a high max dmg. So I think if there is a build that benefits from it the most, then it should be a shotgun build, but idk.
Thanks for the response!
Definetily not. Shotgun problem is minimum damage rolls, not maximum. Same for .44 Pistol 😄 You could say that you increase the range by 15%, but you will still get low rolls. Anyways - after a certain point, you will be blasting with enough crits to simply not care.

Replay Value 😄
Not only you try out that new build, but it may or may not meet extra challenges, etc. And if you introduce an 'option' for that, it will be most optimal to have specific dungeons and lose the whole point of them 😉
