We reverted to the old save, so sadly people are not named... and those who were died. There wasn't much that you've lost, Styg :P. I made big post on the history thread and I'm now commencing to upload my save. The fortress is thriving and somebody can go make people again, because I was too busy fending off these damn crundles. And other monsters.

And like I said - now the rule is one week - if you can't fit in the next person goes on. Also I hate you. Who left the caverns open? While there were only 10 dorfs...

According to the ruling of the Secret Dwarven Council I, Edem Usirineth, codename maheusz was sent to take care of new colony, made in the middle of nowhere. According to my directives I acted as lowly Potash Maker, but my skills at manipulation let me command the fellow dwarves in a way Expedition Leader should. But since he is a lazy bum the authority and lives of my coworkers are mine.

God only knows who created this dump - the place is chaotic and dirty. The only thing I can commend my predecesor on is diabolical construction of the Trading Depot. Now only to create hatches, special pipes to pump water/magma... ahhh... but I'm thinking about too random stuff.

For now we need much more food and more dwarves. 10 people who we're here now isn't really that good. And if I add that some genius left the lower caverns open... that is a disaster waiting to happen. I already ordered creation of walls which should stop the creatures from entering our fortress and I pray to Armok that none of our masons will be stupid enough to stay on the other side when Great Barrier will be finished.

It seems like our walls brought upon us a crundle infestation! Thanfully the rag-tag millitary taken care of it. Also - there were sightings of Trologdytes. These are dire news indeed.

Udil Letmosbour was found dead... probably killed by crundle. His body will lie in hall of fame with both miners. Hopefully his ghost won't be too angry at us.

I will find and kill the person responsible for all this 'Detailing jobs'. THERE IS CRUNDLE INFESTATION DOWNSTAIRS, GO BUILD THE FUCKING WALL, NOT DETAIL ALL THE SAD THINGS IN YOUR LIFE!

Edem Kostakud is dead. Another crundle victim.

This is getting ridiculous. I've asked everybody to help with walling off the crundle hell. It must be done, otherwise these murderous monsters will kill us all!

And of course our dear leader, Tekkud Dorenurrith is throwing a tantrum like little child. I know that we're in crisis here, but really? REALLY? I'VE JUST SNAPPED A NECK OFF A CRUNDLE AND I WON'T STAND FOR IT!

He punched a cat. A CAT! Wow... Such a stress reliever, right?

It has come to my attention that As Noluzol, Fish Dissector was hurt in the fight with crundle. It's only bruising of the lower body, so he'll probably come around, but just to be sure I designated a healer. Since nobody knows ANYTHING about the wounds Xmorg was proudly anounced this colony doctor. And let us all hope that Armok is in good mood today.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS FORT? Tekkud Dorenurrith, Stoneworker and former leader just went insane... oh mighty Armok, I smell tantrum spiral...

And in his madness he... organized an party... Okay. I'm officially mad too. Just... just...

Praise Armok! Migrants! 27 of them... there is no way in hell we'll be able to feed them. Somehow I start to get why leader went insane now.

This time it's Xmorg throwing a tantrum! Our doctor, our last hope in this world filled with blood and guts! Why?

He calmed down but not before killing an innocent dwarf. As Noluzol is no more.

It's an invasion of Giant Gray Langurs! Noooooo!

And in the midst of confusion Litast Fokermebzuth, militia commander has given a birth to a boy. Cute! Also the elven caravan arrived, but to be honest I have too much trouble in fortress to trade with them or even slaughter their puny faces. So I let them be.

Also Sigun Bomrekvesh, Hunter has just bled to death. Such sad fate. At least he killed few of the grays... now the elves will enter in the midst of bloodshed. I wonder what happens.

While fighting still hasn't died down Zulban Stelidkikrost has begun mysterious construction after claiming Jeweler Workshop!

Dwarven Baby just has bleed to death. I guess killed by the Grays. No tantrum please...

NOOOOOOOOOO! XMORG HAS BEEN FOUND DEAD! We'll avenge you!

Another two dwarves found dead. More coffins on the way. Make it three.

An artifact was created - amber opal figurine of Fecaci! Kobold thief wanted to steal it, but was stopped. Sadly he escaped so more will come! Let's be vigilant.

I died of thirst, because there was no water source in the whole damn fortress! Yet my ghost will record the events of this doomed place until the next poor soul from the Council'll come...

Traded with humans for a bunch of wood. We sold our big gem, a mug and one craft. It wasn't the biggest deal in the world, but everybody must start somewhere, right?

Cage traps are on the way. At least now it shouldn't be a slaughter when some animal decides to check the fortress out.

Lokum Gadankib, Cheese Maker is taken by fey mood! He claimed Metalsmith Forge after taking one piece of metal, so there may be a piece of armor... helmet maybe? Artifact helmet would be nice, right? Aaaaaaand... nope. He created a silver flask. One can dream. Ugh.

My end is near. It's winter already. And with new spring another fool will try to save Ragcopper. For those brave enough there is a lever which will help you defend - raise the bridge and laugh at those on the other side. Enjoy and farewell.

The story ends. Go, new one. Try your hand at the destiny...

Was it an execution or just beating? Because dwarves usually survive those - and if you only have some weak hammers or hammerer without skill then it's possible. Or the dorf in question could be a vampire - they usually are pretty sturdy and have very high skills. So yeah... check his background.

It seems like I'll be taking over (at last!). I've got xmorg save on disc (just in case :P), so after I'll come back from work I'm going to start playing :P. Also it seems like new rule needs to be enforced - one dorf cannot keep the savegame longer than for a week. Failure to comply will make next player take his turn.

It's okay, I presume? :P. If I won't publish the save file till 04.02.2013 next guy takes my place :).

Welp, yeah it seems like I somehow misread it... well anyway my point stands - I'll be happy to contribute, but the amount of free time I have really isn't staggering :).

Anyway Underrail Wiki FTW!

Okay, I'll doublepost to alert people who already saw this thread. I've found sites like http://www.wikispaces.com/ or http://www.wiki-site.com/index.php/Wiki_Creation_-_Create_A_Wiki_For_Free%21 so it's not really an issue. The question is - will we have dedicated team to fill it in? Because as I'm of now the amount of time that can be consumed by updating is really low (I've got few projects here and there).

So I guess WolveNZ and nackidno both are volunteering to fill the blanks? :P. Or are there more people who would like to contribute?

Yeah, making it would be very nice, otherwise the forums really will get swarmed with the same questions... because people can't bother to use 'search' function.

I'll search for the free wiki sites after I'll come back home, but I don't know how much I can write there alone... so I'll be counting on you, guys! Of course if somebody else already has an idea where and how create it then please let me know, just to not be redundant :).

You're lucky then, no changes of temperature mean that there will be less of problem with power production, etc. And yeah dorfs tend to destroy stuff when they're angry. They're like little, bearded Hulks.

Back entrances are dangerous - you have to keep an eye on every place enemy can enter and it was my death many times. But, of course, the idea of making stuff outside still sits well with me, so archer towers above the ground to destroy (and see!) these pesky ambushers is sure good.

I usually surrender fast when it comes to building walls :P. Especially because in newer iterations of game the stone starts to become scarce resource! I actually did run out of it! That was a shock first time it happened.

Also I read somewhere (on wiki or maybe bay forums) that ambushes and sieges tend to arrive with merchants - just to fuck you over more :P. So I'm always veeeery careful when one shows up (not counting the first year of course). Still the only good thing elves bring are tamed animals. The rest is just crap. I've would have left them for the siege to deal with :P.

At least trolls aren't poisonous. Tried Giant Spiders yet? :D

Actually RPS did cover it if I remember correctly. There are of course also some Let's Plays on the YouTube, but I must say that it was Rock Paper Shotgun that funneled me here :P. It was the earliest of alphas though, so it wouldn't be bad to spam the mailboxes of some writers there in hopes of gathering a bit of attention.

Admins are great when they know when to stop :P.

I remember that one time when somebody bombed the AI and I was running with the rest of the engineers to cover the hole. It was freaking big - brig was completely cut off and no atmospheric technician present... so no O2 for people. And afterwards we must've repair the apc and reconnect the cables. Most epic feeling ever.

Or when AI was hacked and it pumped plasma into corridors. I was trying to hack the door it blocked and of course sparks went flying...

TRUST ME, I'M AN ENGINEER.

Whole station went with flames.

Haha, well bone equipment is god damn awful :P. I've already tried it few times and each time my militia was slaugtered by copper wielding goblins. There is a lot of stuff when considering quality and usefullness of the weapons and armor... but mostly I use bone armor only when no other things are available. It goes like this: bone - copper - bronze - silver - iron - steel - adamantum. Or something like that anyway :P. I'm going from memory. Of course there is also question of quality, so artifact bone equipment can be awesome, but it's more of a exception from the rule :P. Shells are pretty much on the same level as bone thingies.

Are there any bone weapons? Not counting artifact ones? :P.

God, 300 dorfs? My computer would die and burn. With 200 it's getting like half of the normal FPS. And when siege/ambush comes... duh. I prefer to rely on lumberjacks to do the killing. The axes are edge weapons which means they cut stuff off. And that tends to kill people and monsters fast. Pickaxe is a piercing weapon, with some bashing capability I think (I remember reading it on the wiki) so it has a chance to destroy vital organs.

Bridges are good, but won't the river turn to ice in winter? I got fucked over by the temperature changes more than once :P. And making different part of the fortress the military and civilian is cool and all... in theory. Because dorfs and animals love wandering here and there. Pissing my OCD off.

Also I must say that pit is not really THAT effective. Better thing could be probably some kind of magma chute for prisoners (but their stuff would be unrecoverable) or drowning chamber. It depends on the level of the skill though. I'm not sure I know enough to attempt it.

Well in my silly fortress with copper and silver, 200 dwarves and some magma smelting I've already had like three forgotten beasts. One was a giant moth which promptly flew towards my miners and hurt few. Then my militia came and beat ass. Then was some kind of fish/aligator monster which killed few fisherdwarves (I got them to gather fish from underground lake). Also dispatched. The third is lurking while I'm making a bridge.

I'm on a third year? I guess. Few ambushes squashed on my traps (and one waited out in the fortress when they slaughtered my militia with arrows) the rest of goblins and trolls are in cages. I'm currently doing a pit of doom with silver spikes on the bottom and testing their endurance :D.

There was also an werelizard which killed my hunter... and nothing more. I guess I'm waiting for a siege or something. Making glass traps and planning few funny things. Maybe I'll post some screens here :D.

My only problem is that because I didn't invest in training room my militia is not really that strong. I usually pit them on the goblins which survive 10-z levels fall and impaling. Or trolls. These survive too usually. I can't wait when I get to some adamantum :D.

At least you have elites :P. The only thing my marksdwarves/hunters can come up with is pissing off the giant versions of normal animals. And cats taking on entire goblin ambushes. Can't forget about these. Fucking cats.

I would still bet on our Jeff, xmorg :P. The new version is far and between with stuff getting completely reworked (according to Toady work log). I'm already loving an option to free the city from under enemy occupation... or wander into YOUR OWN LIVING fortress :D. It's gives me shivers just thinking about it.

Yeah, Jeff, I'm watching One F Jef series for some time and I always loved how he made all these Dwarf Fortress videos. There are others which are nice (like Iron Front lols) and few that I must get around to watch, like his X-Com Let's Play. He is one of few YT Let's Players who really get into the depth and madness of Dwarf Fortress. And I love that :D. He reminded me of that after few Kerbal movies with this new DF adventure with human vampire lasher... Fishcandy he was called? It was awesome :D.

Buuuuuut, returning to topic... you didn't butcher the saves, or something, right? :P. They don't have much return in meat and fat ;>.

Well these are really high profile targets... but you do remember that one turn is one year in game? Not in real life? :P. Where is my save, dammit! Far Cry 3 can't take that much time! I'm playing The Last Remnant and still there is a bit for Dwarf Fortress :D. Especially after seeing Jef Major restart his DF adventure series on YouTube ;].

Neat!

And with changes most of my workarounds are null again.

Also does respawn timer work only in game time, or is it two hours in RL? (may be a stupid question, but still somebody needs to ask this :P).
