Suggestions / Companions?
« on: September 05, 2012, 05:54:55 am »
I wonder if it would be possible to get some NPC companions... in the likes of Fallout with their own questlines and aims. Wondering wasteland (or really any environment) alone is pretty boring for me. I don't know how the sneaking bits could be made... but it would be a really big plus for adding such feature.

Is it possible? :)

General / Re: just generally stuck: where are the ventilation shafts?
« on: September 05, 2012, 05:25:44 am »
SPOILERS!
Did you met the boss in the Cantina&Commons level? If yes then did you finish the shooting gallery (near Gorsky or whatever his name was...)?
Some side quests are unlocked if you talked with man in the medical and swallowed the pill (like the bonus quest for cryo ability which forces you to hunt rathounds in specific way).
Which quests have you already done? Or none at all?

Also crowbar only works on some ventillation shafts, so don't worry it'll be useful later.
Flux generator you can get from guy in engineering, provided that you finished the other quests before...

Do you mean at the entrance to the caverns with two big doors?

If yes then you just need to talk to sentry (guy behind the fence) and he'll open the door for you (and after few seconds of wait - second one). If you're going back from caverns you just need to use the card key slot near the outer door.

Hope it helps.

ad 3 - happened to me also. Haven't got screenshot, but I noticed it because after sorting the armors there was "empty" slot. Except it wasn't empty. Got this armor after one large fight... probably from raiders at the Omega station (or it's remnants anyway).

Suggestions / Re: More hacking options
« on: August 31, 2012, 05:26:54 am »
Well you must understand that it's post apocalyptical game. As such there may be not a lot of working tech around (especially around some primitives). Yet I agree that more hacking options would be nice. It could be used to also bypass this electronical lock at the end of the game...

btw. with power generator it would be also nice if my PC could use mechanics to remove the power core entirely. Of course these are only examples... ah and disabling power boxes probably would put everybody in high alert, maybe even force you to fight whole area... so it may not be such a great idea :P

Burrow: keycard is in posession of NPC Gorsky at the SGS base. I think if you have high enough persuasion you can get it from him... to enter the last area in demo.

Yup, I thought it more like neonesis said - it doesn't need to really be graphically cool or anything (some sketches would be okay too), just functional.

In demo it was manageable, but considering there will be a lot more locations with even greater degree of complication...

I was thinking more about something like this:

Other Games / What type of player are you?
« on: August 28, 2012, 05:32:50 am »
Well I was wondering how other people on forum play their RPGs. I've find it interesting since I was wondering does my OCD when it comes to collecting stuff, doing everything that can be done and *FINISHING ALL THE QUESTS!* works or not for others. Also psychic powers are cool (like mind/emotion reading).

So, like I mentioned my character is usually in a middle ground - rather rounded stats, mainly ranged/stealth build (I got screwed by this many times, believe me - like in NvN where ranger is... questionable sometimes). It's not like I'm really strong at it hiding skills (when roleplaying...). Also crafting - simple and interesting crafting system is what also tends to break my game (since I put my points in them, not in combat skills). Pickpocketing is another ability I love to use... just robbing merchants and random people blind. It's the sense of exploration I guess.

While I'm usually interested in lore it need to be useful/finely done (Divine Divinity did it mostly correct), otherwise I get bored really soon. Hints hidden in some texts are really interesting to use... of course Baldur's Gate had a lot of flavor text which was useless in game (items descriptions).

Collecting stuff... I always haul healing potions, scrolls, blessing potions, special items... which *may* be helpful some time in the fututre. Then there comes a moment when I sell every piece of useless equipment (ie. I haul reserve armor or sth which gives different resistances and never switch it to battle...).

And I NEVER do the main quest if there are some sidequests/interesting locations to do. Which sometime breaks the game. Figures, huh?

How do YOU play?

General / Re: I can't find the power generator
« on: August 28, 2012, 05:17:17 am »
Did you trigger all the power switches in outposts? They work only after you put a part into power generator. The quest doesn't tell you expicitly that you need to go back to quest giver... so when you *think* you finished it all just go back and talk to him.

Worked for me.

It would be nice. Especially if, like in the Fallout, most of the locations were drawn on overworld map - and thus were self-contained. Map-like item (could be a sketch made by some now-dead NPC) could outline at least few most interesting locations... it sure beats signs <medical ward> and such...

Well... it may be a part of lore stuff.

Discussions / Re: How did you find out about this game?
« on: August 27, 2012, 05:56:26 am »
I first saw it on Rock Paper Shotgun, before even the demo came out - it was a article on name change I think. Then few days ago Lethal Feline did his stream and I saw it on YT. After that it was a matter of time before I downloaded demo and began to play ;)

Suggestions / A map
« on: August 27, 2012, 05:50:40 am »
While demo areas are rather easy to move in (besides few wrong turns in caves) a map in this type of a game is a must. I sure hope that this feature is missing just because it's a demo - and as such hasn't got many levels yet.

It would greatly help people when searching for quest areas (like infamous SGS barracks). And I'm not even really talking about minimap, just normal map - while checking it could get tedious... I would roll with it.

My bad, I didn't read all the feats as my playthrough was pistols/crossbow/craft I didn't have a chance to try it... but something like stun or fall on stealth hit would be great.

I saw the sniper, but from what I've seen I could only afford it at the end of the demo.
