Other Games / Re: Baldurs Gate "Enhanced" Edition [may contain SPOILERS]
« on: February 18, 2013, 01:49:15 pm »
For anyone interested Kikoskia is doing an YT Let's Play of Enhanced Edition Baldur's Gate as Lawful Evil Fighter.

Just putting it out here. And since he knows the game pretty well his opinion can be valuable. Ah, but I don't know if he'll be getting any of the new characters to join.

So that's that.

Ah, I saw that they've got out of beta (or whatever they call it) few weeks ago. It is quite interesting game, truth to be told.

If I remember correctly on their site people can play a bit cut down version which has unlockable things inside - if you donate (a class or two? more place in chest for another characters... or something like that) or just buy everything on Desura, right?

I've gone a bit in earlier versions... Like I've got this !SPOILER! fancy house under water, which really looks nice and gives people a place to return !SPOILER!

So yeah. As long as they keep adding stuff (and I think they were talking about adding more campaigns) it's well worth 9 euro.

Doesn't seem like it. I'll be picking the saves tomorrow if Jeff won't put them up here :P. So the game will continue!

And I sure hope that this beast won't kick my dwarven hairy ass!

Yup, so I was right :P. It's easy to get confused sometimes.

I would love some bigger monsters, but if the engine isn't fond of these you can always cheat, Styg :P. I.e. by only making people fight stuck parts of the monster, or tentacles, or things like this. It works in some situation and is always a solution.

But yeah, Deep Caverns. Seems like there will be a lot of stuff to explore there. And to quicksave the hell from it ;D.

The Death Cat did another Let's Play of the game like a week ago... so it's a bit more exposition to consider - since there is a fair amount of people who watch him. So... yeah - it's another nice thing to show :D.

I guess we can start counting from yesterday - the whole week of waiting before picking up the save :P. So yeah... Jeff has time until 19.02.2013 to get on with it :P. If not I'll be getting my own sweet battle with Forgotten Beast :D. And one more dwarf to be alive.

Isn't that just developement post, WolveNZ? I was under impression that updates to the game are entirely different. You can just see what Styg is working on... Or are you talking about problems with downloading the latest build?

You are a genius
What can I say? I was born this way :D. Anyway making an dart coating, knife coating or even using it to come up with even stronger poison (a'la curare) would be very cool nonetheless and I'm very glad that Styg is considering it :D.

Holy carp! Underdark in Underrail? We need to go deeper! I can't wait to meet inhabitants of these dangerous zones... I guess one or two epic monsters similar to silver dragons or something like that would be great. In size of course. Cause no fantasy in my science fiction! But yeah I can see some more possibilities opening up.

Also, returning on the topic of frogs. I guess their main diet would be meat, because of the bleed ability (naming them vampire frogs could be better though. Or maybe mentioning them like that in some conversations, because people tend to create legends and stuff about dangerous zones, right?). So I guess the prevalence of rahounds and these small little thingies name I can't remember right now would be very low near water areas inhabited by them. Or are they using ambush mechanic? Like alligators waiting for the prey to start drinking? And are you considering some bigger animal or other creation which would be natural counter to them? Like animal with very thick skin, automatically being much tougher to bleed out? I'm mentioning these things, because I remember a bit of our talk about making believable environment which is truly alive :D.

Neato! Hmmm... I wonder if their blood could be used for regeneration serum. Or to enforce bleed effect on enemies.

Also, on the other topics... Will there be swamplike poisonous terrain? Or irradiated maps? Or anything else with environmental dangers? Maybe I'm asking too soon.

Okay, my character will be Darto the Alemaster. This male human has always found the settlements and other people quite disgusting. He moved out to the wilderness and survived there using mostly his trusty crossbow. And something just bashing things to death with it, when he ran out of bolts. Yet it seems like he can't really escape his brothers and sisters... because Darto loves ale. And he can't get it anywhere else, but at human towns and villages. He already spent some time hanging in one place, trading furs and sometimes meat for the finest this little place can provide.

My skillsheet (I didn't change the attribute points... should I?):

I would say that tantrums were more because of the fact that we've already lost a lot of dorfs and surviving ones doesn't like this. Like this child who bled to death and pretty much most of the the fortress I've got. Also there weren't a lot of engravings... not counting the graveyard. So yeah.

btw did somebody checked the engravings near coffins? They're probably full of death and despair. And cheese.

Also: did anyone made preparations for pumping magma up? Into the moat?

I'm going to check the character sheet when I'm at home, but since you reminded me of map... shall I post it already, or should we wait? Maybe do some fog of war stuff? Then again since you and me already seen it and xmorg didn't it would be quite not fair, right?

Just heads up, I'll be probably making ranger character - it's pretty much how I always play :P.

I would say that is xmorg turn now, since somebody butchered the saves and let them rot :P. And you come next, Jeff. That is if there will be pieces to pick up after yearly Giant Lagurs invasion (God, I hate these things...).

It looks like you were busy enough, wallace, the first level looks now nice and dandy. I'm waiting for full recount of the events. And yeah, did you name the dwarves? Or should xmorg/jeff do it?

PS. You use image function that way:

[_img_]link to image[_/img_] - just delete '_'

It should work with full link... like the one I've put here:

Which means DIRECT link to the photo. Not the one to the page with photo :). In your case it's http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/3605/56650428.png

I would say it's wallace turn now, because it was going like that: wallace, xmorg, jeff, me. So, since Jeff save died tragically I jumped in, so now wallace is going to have !fun!.

Also I'm pretty sure that it was you, who opened the caverns, since Jeff also talked about 'drowning in rotting crumble brains' :P. So yeah...

I would find you and kill you, but since you're already dead (fending off the Giant Lepurs invasion)... I'll let you off the hook :P
