Turns out you CAN fix Jack Quicksilver's quests
« on: December 14, 2024, 03:05:15 pm »
Thought I'd make this post so people might have an easier time if they want to try do what I did.
Because I'm stupid and didn't know that you could do Everard's quest 'wrong' I broke Todor out of jail instead of getting him out diplomatically. This locked me out of the rest of the questline and Jack didnt give me the quest to meet Azif and find Oculus.
Because I don't want to miss out on cool content and also didn't want to lose hours of playtime I thought I'd try cheat the quest in. Turns out Styg doesn't want us to do that.

I did actually manage it in the end.

some absolute chad brought back the console so you don't have to dive into the save file itself. You can search for 'Enabling Developers Console' on reddit and read how to use it over there.

To reset the questline use the console and look for the right quest flags.
These are all the ones I looked at and changed. No guarantees it won't break something else, they are case sensitive:

npc_fo_todor_met

npc_fo_todor_toldRocks

npc_fo_todor_escaped

npc_fo_todor_talkAfterRescue

!quest_watch_FoundryTrialCompleted

npc_jackQuicksilver_foundryReward

npc_jackQuicksilver_finalReport

npc_fo_everard_met

npc_fo_everard_tellChaos

npc_fo_everard_askRoof

There may be others but I'm pretty sure this is is all of them, set all these to false and walk through the quest as the wiki instructs. You should be able to get all the rewards and then immediately after Jack tells you about Azif.
if it works you should get the quest and a new flag, npc_jackQuicksilver_sentYouToAzif, Should be true.

What you are suggesting is not bad on the one hand, as I personally see it. If a person made a mistake with Jack's quest, he will still have a chance to try again, albeit in such an unconventional way, but it is better to make a strong-willed decision and either continue playing or start over and make the best choice.
The console and what you are suggesting is not exactly what Styg wanted from us when he came up with this quest and implemented it into the game. There is something wrong with this, I mean using the console or something like that.
A person's destiny is determined by what he thinks about himself.

Completely fair but in the end I think it's up to the player. Underrail is a single player game that I've paid for, I think it's reasonable to be able to dictate how I experience the game.
I know I wont be doing another run anytime soon and I'd rather not miss this quest as I've never seen it before. I thought I might as well try. If it works, great. If not, oh well, I'm not gonna cry about it and I'm not losing that many hours for a relatively minor thing.

Turns out it worked, and since info on trying to do anything like this is kinda sparse from what I can tell I've posted this.
