Totem in Blistering Shores (expedition)

In one of the eastern zones of Blistering Shores (expedition), There is a totem with an interactable "Offerings" in front of it. I suspect that maybe you can put something in the offerings which will trigger an event. Has anyone managed to do that?

Is it a container?  If so, you could try putting a heart in there, or a brain in jar; something like that.

I've tried the spike, the torch, gobs of charons, my torpedo key...I dont think there's any special interaction here.
